The historical Belle Meade Historic Site & Winery, established in 1807, has served as a thoroughbred stud breeding ground, an extensive farm with a cotton gin, and a Confederate general’s headquarters. Take a tour of Greek-Revival mansion, restored to its turn-of-the-century appearance, and several original outbuildings. You can explore the dairy, carriage house, mausoleum, stable, and reconstructed slave quarters as a costumed guide narrates the property’s history. After the tour, head to the onsite winery for a free tasting. Also swing by Harding House restaurant for some Southern hospitality.
