I was pleasantly surprised with the Hermitage. Small, but impressive museum to start then self-guided walking tour of the grounds. You'll have a guided tour of the Hermitage itself, which is about a 5 minute walk from the museum. Be smart and take an umbrella or go when it isn't raining so you can really see everything. I'll be headed back to see the tulip garden when it isn't wet!

A really cool place to visit if you are in Nashville, or even just passing through. Andrew Jackson's plantation home and he is buried here as well. Really gorgeous things to see and they have these awesome audio self-tour things that tell you anything and everything you want to know about the grounds and the history there. A must see.

Most of the structures and furniture are original, which was cool. The staff was very knowledgeable about Andrew Jackson as well as that time period in general. Excellent experience.

The VIP tour is worth the price. Fantastic views. Tons of information. The pieces are almost all original. Great experience.

Where to stay in Nashville

Stay in downtown, midtown, the west end, or near Vanderbilt to be at the center of it all in Nashville. You'll find plenty of boutique hotels and major chains in all of these areas, which give you great access to the downtown music scene and beyond. While you can find a bit of everything in downtown Nashville, from larger hotels to apartment rentals, keep in mind that more affordable, and often quainter, options are located further from Broadway. Travelers looking to spend most of their time at the Grand Ole Opry should consider accommodations in the Opryland or Music Valley area near the airport.
