  • Great big parking lot. Very wide sandy beach. Playground for the kids. Great for families. Facilities were as good as you can expect at a beach, showers (bring a dollar in quarters) , changing rooms, restrooms. I think they have concessions but didn't get that far. You can see the BI ferry go by, as well as other recreational boats, jet ski's. They have a breakwater farther out that helps with waves and undertow. The one thing I did not like about this beach, hence the 3stars, are the rocks in the water. Great big rocks that hurt our feet and made it very difficult to walk farther out. That was truly disappointing. Not sure if this was throughout the whole beach or just where we were, far left of the facilities. Bring water shoes!
  • Got there Friday afternoon and was pleasantly surprised at how clean and spacious the beach is! Nice snack shop and the water was beautiful! Worth the trip!
  • Love this beach! I've been bringing my granddaughters here.. Just perfect for them.. They are both under 4 yrs ... And they love it too!!
  • Beautiful beach nicely protected from rough waves. Plenty of families, boats to watch, etc. Also a good launch spot for kiteboarding.
  • If you're interested in just wading, or calmly swimming and not worry about waves breaking Roger W. Wheeler is the place for you. Great for families with a playground and picnic tables available. My only gripe is that the bathrooms/showers close promptly at 6pm and there are no outdoor showers for after hours.
