Audubon Corkscrew Swamp Sanctuary, Naples

(2,400+ reviews on the web)
Wildlife Area Nature / Park
was created to protect two species of cypress trees that were at risk of being wiped out in the 1940s and 50s. Today it is a National Audubon Society sanctuary. Wet prairie, pond and bald cypress, and marshlands attract regional reptiles and birds. Keep your eyes open for cottonmouth snakes and alligators that prowl the shallow waters. Stroll along the boardwalk, added in 1955, to view the varied ecosystem. Put Audubon Corkscrew Swamp Sanctuary and other Naples attractions into our Naples itinerary planner, and watch your holiday take shape.

  • We visited "Corkscrew" in February. There is an elevated walkway (above the swamp) that runs for about 2.5 miles, with a cutoff that will shorten the walk to about a mile or so.You can check the route...  more »
  • Two photographer friends and I recently walked the 2+ mile boardwalk at Corkscrew Swamp Sanctuary. It was my first time. I really did not know what to expect. This was a hit and I look forward to many...  more »

  • I really enjoyed this walk! Excellent information posted throughout the trail, and fantastic views of some monster Cypress trees. A great spot for photographers, bird watchers, or anyone looking to experience some authentic Florida interaction. I would definitely bring friends back here! Oh, and the German woman from Arizona working the admissions and gift shop was super friendly, and helpful!!
  • We had an incredible encounter with Florida wildlife. Lots of birds - including some painted buntings and a close up meeting with baby owls. Also an alligator drama where the biggest fella chased his smaller gator rivals out of his mud hole. A thoroughly enjoyable afternoon.
  • I wish this place was closer to me because I would have gone there long ago and more often now. In the dry season the majority of the wildlife is in the back section of the boardwalk. Watch out for the feeders at the entrance of the boardwalk where you should find painting buntings! I'm excited to go back and see how the wildlife changes in the wet season.
  • A wonderful place to enjoy the beauty of nature. Easy 3 mile walk, with lots of vistas to take exceptional shots. Staff there are very friendly and the cost to enter is very reasonable. Lots of Florida wildlife to get to see including gators, birdlife, butterflies, and if you are lucky, a panther, or bear.
  • Three mile wonderful nature walk. Volunteers set up binoculars focused on interesting creatures and are happy to answer questions. Very peaceful, you can feel your pulse and blood pressure drop there.
