Categories: Wildlife Areas, Nature & Parks
Inspirock Rating:
4.6/5 based on 2,000+ reviews on the web
was created to protect two species of cypress trees that were at risk of being wiped out in the 1940s and 50s. Today it is a National Audubon Society sanctuary. Wet prairie, pond and bald cypress, and marshlands attract regional reptiles and birds. Keep your eyes open for cottonmouth snakes and alligators that prowl the shallow waters. Stroll along the boardwalk, added in 1955, to view the varied ecosystem. • Some of the best walks can be had at C.S.S. Alone or with family, on your own or with park guides, the sights you never knew were in Naples. Plenty of wildlife if you are patient, quiet and have a kee...  read more »
  • We were disappointed that we saw only ONE bird during our three-hour visit to the Sanctuary. Despite the signs saying that many animals live there, we saw NONE other than the one bird. It was a nice w...  read more »
  • By far the most natural sights in and around town. Saw a "ghost orchid" which is very rare. It is a peaceful setting and is long enough to get some exercise while taking in the natural flora and fauna...  read more »
  • THE PLENTIFUL WILDLIFE ARE NOT IN CAGES. In fact they can easily crawl into the little bit of civilization for miles: a long boardwalk. A couple times A LITTLE SNAKE STARTLED US—one was just wriggling along on the boardwalk’s rails as if it was another tree branch. The scenery of the swamp is very different than most other trails in America—BEAUTIFUL IN A WET AND WILD WAY. With the exception of the (very rare) school group, it’s easy to FEEL LIKE YOU’RE COMPLETELY ALONE with nothing but the sounds of nature. Other visitors are often VERY RESPECTFUL OF NATURE. Make sure to arrive here prepared; it took us three hours to finish the trail (we were ogling every living thing) and there are NO RESTROOMS, SHOPS, OR STORES once you begin.
  • Love Corkscrew Swamp! This is a beautiful place and a great experience. I come here every time I visit Florida. The possibilities for seeing birds and other wildlife are fantastic, being that this is old-growth swampland, a very rare thing. The staff and volunteers are amazing for being knowledgeable and friendly.
  • This is a really good spot to see some alligators and some pretty birds. The admission fee is 14$ for an adult but you can join the guided tours for free which are really interesting and recommendable. The gift shop offers a lot and is not that much overpriced.
  • Wow.... What a gorgeous place. Its so tranwuil to be out there amongst the "undisturbed."
  • One of the most amazing and wonderful places I have ever been.
