Audubon Corkscrew Swamp Sanctuary, Naples
(4.6/5 based on 2,000+ reviews on the web)
was created to protect two species of cypress trees that were at risk of being wiped out in the 1940s and 50s. Today it is a National Audubon Society sanctuary. Wet prairie, pond and bald cypress, and marshlands attract regional reptiles and birds. Keep your eyes open for cottonmouth snakes and alligators that prowl the shallow waters. Stroll along the boardwalk, added in 1955, to view the varied ecosystem. Put Audubon Corkscrew Swamp Sanctuary and other Naples attractions into our Naples itinerary planner, and watch your holiday take shape.

  • A great place to see nature and wildlife. It can be a short or longer walk on a raised boardwalk so safety is not a factor. Saw gators, birds, otters turtles and snakes.
  • The Boardwalk passes three different vegetations. See, there are birds and fishes. Also alligators can be seen. We were lucky and were able to see a raccoon, who went to the Boardwalk past us. The area is very quiet and invites you to relax.

  • Nicely set out with informative information all around the boardwalk. We were lucky enough to see a good range of wildlife and get the feel of how this natural area sustains itself through the seasons...  more »

  • Beautiful piece original Florida Beauty. Very nice Boardwalk. Opportunity to see lots of native Florida Wildlife. Awesome old-growth Bald Cypress
  • We took our two daughters (4 & 7) to corkscrew. It was fun for all. even though the youngest was tired, we split up and her mother took her through a short-cut back to home-base. myself and my eldest continued for the full self-guided tour where we spotted a bird of prey and a family of raccoons. it was a fun and rewarding experience.
  • My girlfriend and I ventured out here from Naples looking for a fun activity during the day and we were not disappointed. Lots of miles of boardwalk through the jungle!
  • Love Corkscrew Swamp! This is a beautiful place and a great experience. I come here every time I visit Florida. The possibilities for seeing birds and other wildlife are fantastic, being that this is old-growth swampland, a very rare thing. The staff and volunteers are amazing for being knowledgeable and friendly.
  • This place is great for taking some pictures, while getting some exercise and seeing some great wildlife. I'd recommend going in the early morning in order to better your chances for seeing some cool wildlife.
