Where to stay in Napa

To explore North America's largest wine-growing region and remain close to fine dining and shopping, consider staying at a bed and breakfast located in downtown Napa. Many centrally located inns offer spacious rooms with fireplaces, free Wi-Fi, and on-site swimming pools. If you don't mind splurging, consider staying at one of the wine valley's lavishly furnished villas, many of which feature private lakes and access to a network of scenic hiking trails. You can also go all out at a luxury resort located in a picturesque vineyard setting.

  • What a fantastic experience of wonderful winery. Rafael was so knowledgeable and we tried some amazing wines. Even if you can't do the private tour this is a must visit when in Napa.  more »
  • I'm in the business so I do a lot of wine tasting all over CA and I really enjoyed my experience and the wines at ZD. I hadn't been there in many years and the tasting room remodel is tasteful & class...  more »

  • The wines, the views, and the wonderful staff makes ZD a MUST winery to visit! I got to choose the 4 wines I wanted to taste from their list, which is nice because my husband and I differ on wine preferences. We both really enjoyed all of the wines we tried!
  • ZD Wines is an organic, family owned winery (Since 1969) that specializes in Chardonnay, Pinot Noir, and Cabernet Sauvignon. Their seated UnWined tasting lets you choose which wines you'd like to taste while overlooking the Rutherford Appellation (cheese included). The staff was friendly and accommodating, we will definitely be back; I am looking forward to receiving my order and enjoying these wines at home!
  • Super friendly staff, very knowledgeable and eager to answer any question we had
  • I have visited countless wineries in Napa and Sonoma (as my contributions indicate) and ZD was one of my less pleasant visits. We were running a bit late for our appointment and called to push it back to reschedule. The person on the phone was extremely rude about the changed reservation, as though there were a waiting list and the tasting rooms was packed. When we arrived the tasting room was basically empty. The property is stunning, even in the rain, and the views from the tasting room were outstanding, but the tasting fee was extremely pricy (the four of us split two tastings because of the fee) and unlike every other winery I've visited in California wine country, the tasting fee was collected before any tasting happened. More pleasant experiences with friendlier staff nearby. Skip ZD
  • Fine, but not nearly as passionate as the guys at Frog's Leap around the corner, who were dead keen and happy to explain the wine making and history in great detail over an extended period of time for $25, rather than ZD's $40 (ex-tax). Our chap at ZD was nice enough but didn't seem bothered to say more than a brief explanation of the blend. Considering we were about the only people there, this didn't seem to make sense. If you think of ZD as more low-key and family-run, you won't be too disappointed (we did and weren't) but don't expect anything too personal or sophisticated. The wines were pretty good but not outstanding. The tasting room balcony is nice, overlooking Caymus wines.
