Where to stay in Napa

To explore North America's largest wine-growing region and remain close to fine dining and shopping, consider staying at a bed and breakfast located in downtown Napa. Many centrally located inns offer spacious rooms with fireplaces, free Wi-Fi, and on-site swimming pools. If you don't mind splurging, consider staying at one of the wine valley's lavishly furnished villas, many of which feature private lakes and access to a network of scenic hiking trails. You can also go all out at a luxury resort located in a picturesque vineyard setting.

  • Love Truchard Wines and the winery tour! A fantastic stop on your tour of the area. Love to order these wines!
  • A favorite winery stop while visiting Napa. To tour and tasting you need to make an appointment. Lovely setting for a picnic lunch in their vineyard. As you enter the property you pass a lovely well maintained rose garden guarded by very friendly resident cats. The staff was extremely welcoming. A must stop when visiting Napa valley. It is located close to the Caneros region.
  • Why is Mathew Fitch harassing the children of other winemakers on social media? Doesn't he realize that when we check his profile, Truchard comes up? Does he live in a bubble?
  • We scheduled a wine tasting and tour that turned out to be fabulous! The winery was beautiful and the story behind the owners was really awesome. Ask about the grape that started it all!
  • Working from a selection of high-ranked Yelp wineries, I selected Truchard as the first of our several stops in Napa. Little did I realize just how much it would influence the rest of our trip. From the requirement of a credit card to hold our reservation, along with the call the day before to confirm we were showing, I expected a big, flashy, and expensive winery. While the winery is certainly big in terms of grape production, the actual tasting room is a tiny room inside a surprisingly nice barn. We were greeted by Jo Ann Truchard, who was more than happy to share with us the history of the winery and how she sold grapes to a lot of flashier wineries in the area. We received a tour of the intricate caves and mentioned our desire to return after our day of tastings were over. Several hours later, on a late Saturday afternoon after visiting several other wineries, we were excited to return to Truchard and make our big buy before returning home, but were dismayed to find the place closed when we returned. Jo Ann was nice enough to provide us with her home number, and a little while after calling and leaving a message, she returned my call and was more than happy to take time out from her family and open shop long enough to make our purchase. We all bought something, some of us a large amount of something, ranging from their award-winning Chardonnay to the award-winning Syrah (they're all pretty much award-winning). What struck me is how much this woman loved what she was doing - the passion with which she talked about her vineyard and how willing she was to help some fledgling wine enthusiasts bring some of their great wine home. After a collective $1,000 purchase and more wine than we knew what to do with, we left the vineyard happy and lifelong Truchard fans. It's difficult to walk into the wine section of a large liquor store and decide which brand to purchase, but after visiting Truchard Vineyard, the decision process just got a whole lot easier.
