Trefethen Family Vineyards, Napa

4.3
#14 of 63 in Wineries in Napa
In 1968, the Trefethen family purchased seven farms surrounding a magnificent, but run-down, 19th-century winery in southern Napa Valley and created Trefethen Family Vineyards. At the time, there were fewer than 30 working wineries in the Napa Valley. True to the family’s original vision of creating a classic wine estate, they have never purchased outside grapes. Instead, they take extraordinary care of their two sustainably farmed estate vineyards in the Oak Knoll District of Napa Valley. Today, after 40 years, the Trefethen family’s third generation, Loren and Hailey, assist their parents in continuing the family tradition of passion for the land, its people and the art of crafting exceptional Napa Valley wines.

  • In the past we have had great experiences with Trefethen, they were down to earth, and friendly but not so any longer. Upon going in from the parking lot they have a sign saying that there may be a wa...  more »

  • We were already Trefethen wine club members but were even more impressed after our visit. Winery repairs were completed before our visit so we experienced the entire winery and took a tour through the vineyard and wine making facilities as well. Staff was friendly and the property is beautiful. In the tasting room we discovered that we had somehow missed how good their Malbec is and sent some bottles home. Needless to say, we'll be keeping our wine club membership and visiting again.
  • First class wines. If you are in Napa, it should be worth a stop.
  • This was our first stop from our wine tour, the staff was great, very knowledge, our experience was great, we took the 2 wine samples, the classic and the reserve, and all the wines were superb, the whites and the reds were excellent. We went to 4 of the best wineries and Trefethen was the best tasting wines, I give them 5 starts.
  • My wife and I had a wonderful visit and wine tasting... so much so that we joined their Wine club. Love their wines and their reserve cab is terrific.
  • Top 10 in Napa, amazing staff, Trish, and the staff upon entering, (welcome staff - booking agent) she was so sweet and helpful. The grounds, vineyard, wine and staff are all "Ritz Carlton" level. I loved the experience and team and will be back, as my 1st visit and choice in Napa.
