O'Brien Estate Winery, Napa

(4.6/5 based on 550+ reviews on the web)
O'Brien Estate Winery is one of only a few estate wineries in Napa Valley where wine is made on-site with grapes grown strictly from the company's own local vineyard. Take a tour to learn about its story and practices, and taste some award-winning Bordeaux-style wines. You'll have the opportunity to see the whole process of winemaking, from picking grapes to bottling. The company produces very small batches of high-value wine using no pesticides or herbicides. You'll hear the company's full story, which portrays the romantic relationship between the owners that grew into this successful business. Tours are only for guests  21 and older. • We visited O'Brien in January 2009. This was our first trip back and it was an equally enjoyable tasting. You won't get WOW'd by a fancy tasting room or beautiful amenities center. The story has been ...  more »
  • No doubt the journey desdeSan Francisco to know the site which produce the best wines in the United States, and today the situated among the best in the world, worth. We advise you not to go by highways, since then you can see beautiful charming villages. An hour after leaving San Francisco, using GPS, you will be very easy find the small settlement of the O'Brien family. Next to the House where the owners, are the winery's facilities. If you're lucky will attend you Luis, an Argentine chef who found in the world of wine, his vocation veradedra. Speak you as if it were the owner of the vineyards and feel the love that puts him to work. Will test a Chardonnay excellent for then go accentuating them flavors and get to an unctuous cabernet. Will know that this establishment is rated so high on Trip Advisor. The neat vineyards of O´Brien producing magnificent wines that hardly will forget. Thanks Luis!

  • We just returned from our second trip to Napa Valley in less than a year. I researched the vineyards and wineries in the area and came across O'Brien Estate. The reviews were so good that I just knew ...  more »

  • Wonderful winery! We absolutely loved O'Brien Estate and especially their wines. Jason, was our wine ambassador and he was awesome-Great customer service and knowledgeable. Make sure you book a time for tasting and make sure they send a confirmation number. We highly recommend and cant wait to go back!
  • Jason helped us with our tasting and we couldn't be happier with the experience! He was extremely knowledgable and passionate about what he does. Our tasting was on a porch looking out on the vineyard and, though it was a bit foggy, it was stunningly beautiful. We all enjoyed the wine, as well, and there was a good variety to taste.
  • Wow, that's about all I can say about O'Brien. The views were amazing, the wines were complex and delicious. Jason did an amazing job of letting the wine speak for itself and tailor the taking to our tastes rather than simply go through the motions.
  • I honestly can't say enough about how amazing this place is. Just 10 minutes from downtown napa. The 43 acre vineyard is charming inside and out from the moment you pull up. Jason our sommelier was wonderful by being knowledgeable funny and interesting while walking us through all the wines. Sitting outside in the comfy chairs sipping delicious wine looking out over the vines is the perfect way to spend the day. Book way in advance cause this place fills up fast.
  • We were very disappointed during our visit last week. Interestingly in all the other on line reviews there was no mention of the high tasting fees of $40 per person that are ONLY waived if you join their wine club. If you are not looking for a wine club to join your time and money is much better spent at any of the other great wineries, which include tours and actual facilities not picnic benches for tasting. The brochure upon your arrival says complimentary wine tasting but the small print when making the reservation does note the fee. Please do your homework as we did not read the find print and spent $117 on a mediocre bottle of wine (including the $80.00 tasting fees).
