Jennette's Pier, Nags Head

4.5
At Jennette's Pier, stroll along the boardwalk and cast your line into the Atlantic Ocean. Originally built in 1939, this pier offers a chance to catch king mackerel, cobia, flounder, and many more species. You can book a stand-up paddle-board tour or private fishing lesson. The new pier and pier house were constructed in 2011 after the original pier's destruction during Hurricane Isabel in 2003. Visit the pier house to see the aquarium and educational exhibits focused on ethical fishing, marine science, and conservation. The area also offers surfing, kite-boarding, outdoor music festivals, and food festivals. Plan to visit Jennette's Pier during your Nags Head vacation using our convenient Nags Head day trip site .

  • The views from the pier are terrific. Really not much to do but great views. Great location, close to restaurants.  more »
  • Went to Fish Heads for a night out with my girlfriends. There was a band playing good music and all there seemed to enjoy it. I was kind of surprised to see so many children in a "drinking atmosphere"...  more »
  • We stopped at the pier for a few hours and watched a surfing competition. We also walked along the pier and through the gift shop for some ice cream. It was a beautiful day and the pier and beach were...  more »

  • The pier is great for the view of the ocean. It is sturdy and juts far out into the water. This spot is probably most appealing to an avid fisherman. The inside is run down and I don't recommend you order any food. If you go, just enjoy the beautiful views of the sea from a nice height. The pier has benches in case you want to sit down and linger awhile. It is gorgeous at sunset.
  • This is one of our favorite beaches on the Outer Banks. The beach around the pier stay pretty smooth and gradual, also the pier offers a shady respite when the temperature soars. The outdoor showers are a must, we bring biodegradable shampoo and feel great afterward. The bathrooms are very basic. The pier itself offers great views and fun fishing. They also offer educational classes.
  • Awesome place to fish. Really nice pier. Nice staff and clean facility. Only prob is local fisher men as I call them think they own the pier and won’t let anyone fish off the end. They are there all day and most of the night and bring to much stuff and it clutters up the end. They are rude and I don’t think they should be allowed to take up the entire end of the pier all day and night. Just to catch fish they can’t keep cause they are to big. I know they pay money to but if you have fished here you will know what i mean.
  • Great pier. Not overpriced nice entrance and displays. Many different species (including ocean species) available most of the year. Will be making frequent trips from Virginia to fish here.
  • Watching the waves crash is an awesome sight! Course it didn't help with fishing success. Made for a memorable vacation.
