WonderWorks, Myrtle Beach
(3.5/5 based on 1,700+ reviews on the web)
Escape the sun for a day at WonderWorks, a hands-on museum with more than 100 exhibitions, including experiencing hurricane-like winds indoors and landing a NASA spacecraft. When you enter the museum, you'll notice that everything in the room is upside-down. This museum is like an amusement park in many ways, and it makes science fun and accessible for everyone. Once you've checked out all of the hands-on exhibitions, you can play laser tag, hang out on the ropes course, or take a seat on its 6-D Extreme Motion Ride. You can even take a ride a virtual roller coaster of your own design! Choose to start, finish, or center your holiday on a trip to WonderWorks by using our Myrtle Beach trip generator.

  • We went with 4 adults and 4 kids ages 2 to 9. This is the perfect time of year for something like this! Not crowded at all which made it easy to enjoy all the activities and keep track of the kids. On...  more »

  • Fun Place. Great for Families. Very Pricey!some outdated stuff, probably excellent when it first opened. Some stuff seemed "wore-out" from use. otherwise 3 hours of Family Entertainment.
  • Underwhelming for what we paid. The indoor ropes course was cool. Staff was disinterested but we went after college returned so I understood a lot of the summer employees left. The laser tag was cool but the environment is small. As for the remainder of the attractions inside, several seemed to be overused and unmaintained. Perhaps with some regular maintenance and quality control this place could be an awesome attraction. Great idea but overpriced for the quality of the attractions.
  • Had a bit of a bad experience but staff was very accommodating and gave me a full refund. What we were able to do was very fun and interesting. Food and drinks were good and view from outdoor eating area was beautiful. I will definitely return.
  • First off this place is loud. The music was so loud I don't know how they aren't violating workplace safety regulations. I thought this place would be a hit with my 5 year old, but she complained about the noise the whole time. We got there right when they opened so I hate to think how loud this place is when you add a ton of people. So many exhibits don't work. The ones I can recall...the water experiment doesn't reverse, the hand strength tester, the how high can you jump game, the safe cracker game, the robotic arm, the flight simulator,... There were probably more but you get the picture. No "out of order signs" and I'm pretty sure some of these same things were broken when I was here 2 years ago. The pay to play arcade. There are plenty of free games in the young kid zone (the only reason I'm giving this 3 stars) but there is also a pay to play arcade. Be prepared to fork over more money or deal with the inevitable whining. This place is not that cheap to justify taking up so much floor space with pay to play games. There are limited or no instructions. They want you to buy their souvenir "guide". I refused so don't know if the extra $5 actually buys directions. The partially broken safe cracker and flight simulator games were particularly bad. Heck, maybe they weren't even broken. Again no "out of order" signs just made it all the more frustrating. On the plus side, there are a few show stopper rides that make it fun, but only for older kids. The revolving bikes, 3D theater, giant bubble room, and high rope course were all really fun. Too bad they were surrounded by so much disappointment..and ear splitting noise.
  • Awesome place for young kids (6+), teens and even parents. Lots to do more so than most science centers. Pedal bikes upside down, walk along high wires and balance beams up high (with a safety harness), do experiments, make big bubbles, lay on a bed of nails, roller coaster simulators, 6d movies, dizzy spinning tunnel, hurricane shack, lazer tag, and lots lots more...indoors too so it's perfect if the weather isn't great.
