Myrtle Beach State Park, Myrtle Beach

4.5
#3 of 7 in Parks in Myrtle Beach
Pitch a tent and swim, go fishing, or hike at Myrtle Beach State Park. The beach is wide and sandy, and the absence of hotels keeps the area quiet compared to typical beach resorts. Plan a picnic, or ride horses. Children can join nature programs and visit the education center that features displays, aquariums, and reptiles. A campsite with 350 spots for tents and RVs is nestled within a maritime forest; six cabins are available for rent. Remember that there are no lifeguards at the beach. • We ended our walk quickly after our setter, on a leash, got many, many thorns in her paws. I've never seen such sharp and difficult to remove thorns. We had to pull them out, our fingers we cut and pi...  more »

  • This park is beautiful! Was $5 for 16+, 4-15 was $3 and under 3 free. Was lots of parking, bathrooms, and easy access. Just beautiful. Definitely a park to go to to have lunch, hangout with the kids, go for a walk or run. There was a sign that said no pets on the beach tho. I'm not sure if there is camping. No lifeguards.
  • This campground's proximity to the beach, tourist attractions, restaurants, and EVERYTHING ELSE make it a good choice. The price is very reasonable. In April, we paid $30/night during Spring Break for a tent spot with electric, water, and power. The park is undeveloped, and critters are everywhere. Birds come to beg for food during the day (Cardinals, not pigeons), and raccoons are everywhere at night.
  • We camped here for four nights. The campground is clean and has many private sites (some even have full hook ups) and there are laundry facilities. The boardwalk and pier are great and the beach is beautiful. I read some reviews about sand burrs getting into dogs paws but we didn't have any problems with that. I gave it four stars instead of five because it is in the glide path for the runway and can get a little loud. That my dog did not like.
  • I love this place! We've been coming here for 20 years and will hopefully do so for 20 more. They have day passes for those who want to fish off the pier, nightly rentals for those who want to camp for a few days and see the sights and weekly cabin rentals for those who want to spend a little more time to enjoy the park or the town. Truly something for everyone!
  • First of all, we love this place, BUT...... Trying to understand the construction and progress on the back loop, they called us before we arrived to change our site because of the construction. When we arrived, checked in, and got set up, NO POWER in the site they moved us to! Moved again!..... now in a MUCH LESS desirable spot where our fire pit is essentially in the walk path to the playground and the site is not even big enough to open the awning! We've been to this state park before, and we'll probably be back!....... just this week's experience has been one to forget!
