  • The museum itself can be covered in 30 minutes, but the real reason to go is to tour the sub. I definitely think people were smaller 50+ years ago. As part of a Cubscout trip, we were able to sleep on...  more »
  • So....not every museum has a WWII submarine. We are more familiar with Chicago's Museum of Science and Industry's German sub. This was interesting....maybe the American subs had more space....maybe it...  more »
  • Interesting museum and we loved looking at the USS Silverside floating outside the museum. We arrived at closing time so don't make the same mistake ! Great souvenier shop. Pleasant employees.

  • Awesome, that's my overview. I had a great time exploring and learning more than i anticipated about our submarine history. The guided tour was spectacular, with veteran stories as well as facts. A hands-on approach to our beloved past. Friendly staff and wonderfully priced gift shop. No pressure just a blast from the past. Looking forward to a return visit. Thank you
  • We paid extra for the guided tour. It was very informative and the guide made it fun and interesting. Worth every penny. My 12 yr ild son loves WWII, so he was in heaven.
  • This is truly interesting. Two things were surprising: how narrow and tight the spaces are (almost claustrophobic), and how long the whole submarine really is. What it lacks in width it definitely makes up for in length. Room after room you crouch through the boat and discover all sorts of stuff. I only wish they had kept the original hatches for entering the boat. These were replaced by wider tourist friendly hatches, which render the otherwise still seaworthy boat into what it is - a museum.
  • Fun interesting and different. Nice staff. If you are claustrophobic, beware. It's a submarine and pretty snug in there.
  • Could've spent a whole day just inside the museum reading facts and timelines. The submarine is an experience of a lifetime.
