A Hard Earned Victory:

The Battle of Stones River began on the last day of 1862 and was one of the bloodiest conflicts of the Civil War. The battle produced important military and political gains for the Union, and it changed forever the people who lived and fought here.

  • This place is awesome. It has a informative visitors center. The grounds were awesome. They seem to always be having some kind of activity going on. We went to the 155th living history there recently and even though it was cold it was a good time. Son went through the junior ranger activities and it was cool watching him learn about our great nation in doing so. The staff was great and polite. I recommend this place to any history person or anyone wanting learn about our great country and the small captures in time that played a part in shaping our nation.
  • Really cool place to go see. It's kinda hidden unless you know it's there, but it's really big. Great place to go for a long walk or jog. Also has some very good photo opportunities, so you'll definitely catch a lot of photographers in the act. Very cool, free, museum at the welcome center. All in all a great place to go see.
  • Visitor's center was a great introduction to the battlefield. Would recommend stopping there first before touring the battle girls. Friendly staff, nice gift shop, though I wish they stocked a wider selection of books. We did the driving tour which was enlightening. Recommend highly
  • In addition to being able to learn about the Battle of Murfreesboro, there are several miles of walking trails that you can take. Both on a paved road and through the woods. There is no telling what kind of wildlife you might see. In my opinion, this is one of the better places to get some exercise in town.
  • Great place to spend the day hiking while learning the history of the area. Rangers in the Visitors Center are very friendly and helpful. Incredible experience. Loved my visit to Stones River National Park.
