A wonderful historical, scientific, and cultural museum located on the grounds of the oldest fish hatchery west of the Mississippi River. Kid friendly. Get a photo taken on the 1915 fire truck. Learn many interesting things about the history of the town, the purity of Mt. Shasta's water, and Joaquin Miller, the writer who wrote about Mount Shasta during the gold rush.

  • This is the sort of place you NEED to go to get a feel for the place you're visiting. Full of history AND ecology. Really nice.

  • Pretty cool little museum and it's interactive so yes the kids can touch stuff! Nice little place to stop if you're traveling through the area.

  • If you are ever in the Mount Shasta area, be sure to visit this interesting and informative museum. It's located at the site of the oldest trout fish hatchery west of the mississippi. You will find a well stocked gift shop, maps of the area, and information sheets on the many natural wonders. Don't miss it. Open June -- Sept. 10 am to 4 pm & April, May & Oct. -- Dec. 1 pm to 4pm
