  • This is probably the least visited center in the park since it has little to see inside and the gift shop is minimal. The bathrooms were out of order when we were there also. The employees were super ...  more »
  • While we were in the area we hiked the Silver Falls Trail. It can be accessed from three different points - check with a ranger or pick up an information sheet for the Ohanapecosh area. We walked alon...  more »
  • Not a big gift shop, but great informative Rangers staff this place. Nice static wildlife displays offer a good perspective into the animals who live in the park. Nice hike around the area and quick a...  more »
  • To see our video tour of this campground, go to YouTube and search Video Tour Ohanapecosh Campground This is a stunningly beautiful campground and our favorite place to camp at Mt Rainier National Park. The campground is well maintained. The roads were recently repaved and they installed bear boxes in each campsite which make food storage safe and simple. We camped in C-Loop which is close to the river. The sound of the river is wonderful. It drowns out camp noise and lulls you to sleep every night! The bathrooms are clean and well maintained, however there is no soap. I gave this 4 stars because they closed the RV dump station which is an inconvenience. If you are RV'ing here be prepared for boon docking as there are no hookups. When making reservations here, watch for the booking window to open and make reservations immediately. They book up quickly. For a more detailed review and some stunning footage, check out our video - https://youtu.be/alFJSX6Qj-A
  • Ohanapecosh is one of my favorite campgrounds in the area. The facilities are always rather clean and the visitor center is full of informative an fun things, and it's central to so many great hikes (from the campground you can hike to parts of the Pacific Crest, Wonderland, Silver Falls, Grove of the Patriarchs, and a handful of others.) The camp sites are spacious enough to not feel claustrophobic, bear safe containers are provided food for storage, and there are lots of spots available throughout the year. On Fridays and Saturdays (and sometimes Sunday depending on how busy the camp ground is) a truck comes around selling firewood for $7 a bundle. I'm pretty sure it's the same friendly guy whose been doing it for at least a decade. On other days, Packwood is only a short drive away for supplies. It is a busy campground, so make sure to get reservations during their peak in summer.
  • This place was busy. Friendly and efficient staff.
  • Silver falls loop with Grove of the patriarchs, great hike.
  • Hands down my favorite place to go camping at Mt. Ranier. I have been to a few others, but none of them offer the beauty of camping in the forest like Ohanapecosh. Whether you are right by the river or in a more secluded edge of the campground, you are always surrounded by nature. The bathrooms have electricity and are decently located with 1 in each loop. They do have bear resistant containers in each campsite now, so you don't need to walk back and forth to your cars for food storage any more. They have also upgraded the fire pits to make them more cooking friendly.
