  • While we were in the area we hiked the Silver Falls Trail. It can be accessed from three different points - check with a ranger or pick up an information sheet for the Ohanapecosh area. We walked alon...  more »
  • Not a big gift shop, but great informative Rangers staff this place. Nice static wildlife displays offer a good perspective into the animals who live in the park. Nice hike around the area and quick a...  more »
  • At the Ohanapecosh visitor center we visited it and walked around for a quick sec. The ranger there was very knowledgable and there was tons of history on the location and the park itself. There we hi...  more »

  • Hands down my favorite place to go camping at Mt. Ranier. I have been to a few others, but none of them offer the beauty of camping in the forest like Ohanapecosh. Whether you are right by the river or in a more secluded edge of the campground, you are always surrounded by nature. The bathrooms have electricity and are decently located with 1 in each loop. They do have bear resistant containers in each campsite now, so you don't need to walk back and forth to your cars for food storage any more. They have also upgraded the fire pits to make them more cooking friendly.
  • Awesome place to camp along with a hike to see the hot springs w/ a site to view of the Silver Falls
  • 1 1/2 hours off of I-5. G and H sections first come, first serve during peak season.
  • Great campground. Will come back again. Lot of room to enjoy the woods.
  • I won't be going back, June 27 is when reservations start for the camp ground and the website said it was first come first serve. We were lucky enough there was one walk in site left. It was $15(6 day pass, only option) to get into the national park, $15 a night to camp. Must keep all food in the car so walking back n forth was terrible. HOWEVER the hiking trails were amazing! So many water falls!! And one HUGE one.

Where to stay in Mount Rainier National Park

You could visit Mount Rainier National Park on a day trip from Seattle, but you'll probably want to stay in or closer to the park to maximize your time there. The park provides three developed campgrounds and one primitive one with nearly 500 individual sites between them. For extra creature comforts, book a room at either the National Park Inn or the larger Paradise Inn. Many park visitors lay their heads in the villages west of the park along National Park Highway. Places such as Jasper, Mineral Lake, and Alder Lake offer a mix of lodges, inns, and bed and breakfasts, almost all of which deliver full views of towering Mount Rainier. You might also find reasonable summer deals on hotels at Crystal Mountain Ski Resort just north of the park, though this is a less convenient option.
