  • This is our favorite hike. Although in total we climbed over 100 floors - thanks Fitbit - it is well spaced and never too strenuous. The scenery is beautiful with great views of forest, lakes, and of ...  more »
  • We took the shorter inner loop trail which was covered in wild flowers ringing the beautiful, if not large, lake which provided a great reflection of Mt Rainier. The earlier the better to get that per...  more »
  • No matter the season, a visit to Tipsoo Lake is spectacular. Not only is it easy to reach as it's literally just off of Hway 410 on the way to Chinook Pass, the 360 degree view is breathtaking. A smal...  more »

  • This is an amazing hike! During the summer the hikes are covered in wildflowers, but in fall the hills are covered in a carpet of fiery red, orange, and yellow. This is a really easy hike and you can enjoy the best views if you walk the trail clockwise starting from tipsoo lake.
  • Great hike! I recommend to walk the opposite way of the sign from parking lot. Walk up the road until you see the log over the road. This way you'll face towards Mt. Rainier on the last part of the hike down towards your car.
  • Tremendous hike!! You can't beat the view. Rainier Adams Goat Rocks wet Washington on one side and desert Washington on the other. Experience it in case you can't get to heaven later.
  • about 7km and 200m elevation gain (yes, Canadian visitor), and took us about 2.5 hour to complete (very leisurely) with good view of Mt. Rainier
  • Fun little hike highly recommend bring bug spray!

Where to stay in Mount Rainier National Park

You could visit Mount Rainier National Park on a day trip from Seattle, but you'll probably want to stay in or closer to the park to maximize your time there. The park provides three developed campgrounds and one primitive one with nearly 500 individual sites between them. For extra creature comforts, book a room at either the National Park Inn or the larger Paradise Inn. Many park visitors lay their heads in the villages west of the park along National Park Highway. Places such as Jasper, Mineral Lake, and Alder Lake offer a mix of lodges, inns, and bed and breakfasts, almost all of which deliver full views of towering Mount Rainier. You might also find reasonable summer deals on hotels at Crystal Mountain Ski Resort just north of the park, though this is a less convenient option.
