Mount Rainier, Mount Rainier National Park

Considered one of the most dangerous volcanoes in the world, Mount Rainier luckily hasn't erupted in the past 100 years. With around 8,000 people a year completing the three-day climb to the top peak, the volcano is popular with experienced climbers. The park is also known for its easier trails, which come with scenic views across the range. Mountain bike trails are available, and you can enjoy snow sports, such as skiing, in the colder months. If you're looking for the perfect picture, check out the reflection lakes where you can capture a stunning image of the volcano and its reflection. A visit to Mount Rainier represents just the start of the adventure when you use our Mount Rainier National Park trip planner to plot your vacation.

  • What a glorious experience visiting this park and mountain. The absolute most gorgeous views I've ever seen. We traveled to Paradise, Sunrise, and Crystal Mountain to view her from all sides. And wildflowers were everywhere along the roads and pathways. Exquisite!
  • Mount Rainier is a nice Mountain Volcano to see from a distance and to go to visit and photograph. Lots of hiking trails and lakes, and waterfalls. Lots of glaciers on Mount Rainier. On nice clear sunny day you can see Mount Rainier in the distance from Seattle, Washington.
  • We drove out to this national park from Seattle. The scenery was amazing and the views were stunning. I was so impressed I bought a baseball cap. It was a beautiful place to drive through. Even more delightful with snow on the mountain tops.
  • The best hike I've ever been on. Simply amazing views Start from getting out the car Going to to seeing side river flow of waterfall With beautiful flowers blooming And the huge snowy mountain overseeing everything As you continue you can go off trail into other landmark areas The hike get harder as you go up the elevation over 10,000 Overall I wanna go back
  • Third Burroughs was spectacular, as was the view of Glacier Basin. WTA did a great trip report of this, but didn't really depict the massive crowds
