I am not much of a history fan but my husband is and this place had my attention! The ship is huge and amazing! We spent an entire day here from open to close and still didn't see it all. If you are a...  more »

We stayed overnight on a boy scouts camp out. The boys loved it. It is difficult to conceive how demanding it was for the soldiers that served on this ship. It is super hot (though the museum and the ...  more »

Wow. Impressive! Here you can pretty deeply in the history of the Yorktown ISS or The dive of aircraft carriers. Informative treatment partially to the 'touch'! With a guide, you can learn some details, such as e.g. the functioning of the main supply units in the engine room. Several films documenting individual events or aspects of the ship. Only for children is finding little, especially for small. But this is like most museums in d n. Otherwise it was is very hot (except the air-conditioned MoH Museum). All around an impressive Museum. Only time you should bring. The 3 hours have made us felt only for a rough overview and a few "dives" in details. The accompanying boat or her Vietnam experience we no longer made. Interested parties should schedule a whole day here and learn best before a little.

Patriot's Point is a must-see on any trip to Charleston. The Yorktown is an amazing experience, which puts you inside of history. You can see the scribbles of sailors on the walls, hear the water lapping against the outside of the ship, and walk through the belly of the best. The hangar and flight deck are full of planes, which would be cool on their own, but are even cooler all together. Make sure to give yourself some time to explore, because you will want to turn down every corridor you can, and read every plaque. The Vietnam experience is also great. It's not nearly as time consuming as the rest of Patriot's Point, but it's well done, and gives a good insight into what it would have looked like in an American camp during the Vietnam War.

This is a very neat place to enjoy on your own or with a group. There is the naval ship and submarine to tour (very fun, historical and visually informative). There is a dinner cruise tour tied into the center here (which I was able to experience years ago and it was wonderful). I attended the fireworks display this July 4th and it was very cool with lots of vendors, live entertainment and an impressive firework show. This place is worth more than one visit!

Amazing place and surprisingly good value. Parking is only $5 which is reasonable. Start with the sub in the morning then move to the destroyer and finally the carrier. You can easily spend all day here and probably still not see everything. There is an elevator in the carrier for access but nothing to help very small kids or elderly move about the other exhibits. There is a 95 year old WWII Naval Aviator who flew off the Yorktown in 1945 that sits on a bench by the Corsair three times a week answering questions about the war and his experiences. If you're lucky enough to talk to him, he will pass on amazing stories. The gift shop is well stocked and reasonably priced on most things. Overall a terrific way to spend an entire day. You'll be out in the sun very little unless you're on deck and in and out of air conditioning on each vessel. There's some interactive exhibits as well.

A must see attraction if you are in Charleston. You will have a new appreciation for the U.S. Navy and our military after seeing these amazing displays of American engineering. The history and stories that these warships hold are put on full display bye the many pictures, videos and by the volunteers working all three vessels. Highly recommended! !

Easily worth the $22 admission price. For $22 you get access to all three of the ships. It is a self guided tour so you can go at your own pace. There is a lot of information on the walls so you will not miss out on the history.
