My 2 girlfriends and I made Saturday reservations for the Murder Mystery Dinner. For the price of $50.00 per person, I was highly disappointed. We were escorted to the peacock room which is a small ro... more »

To the Manager of the Catacombs, My granddaughter and I arrived for our reservation time, 5:45 pm for her 15 Birthday Dinner. I didn't want to take the tour of the brewery, so our hostess took us to our table. We look at the menu then ordered. I ordered a Porterhouse Steak, my granddaughter ordered duck. I mentioned to the server how I wanted my steak cooked because I didn't want to send it back. Server," It seems you're going to be heard to please." My salad was wilted, warm, and bruised, (I noticed the salad bin were kept under lights and without ice) I asked the server to take the salad away. She didn't offer me another salad, she walked away in a huff.s We were served our orders,my Steak looked like a T-bone Steak. Me,"This looks like a T-bone Steak" Server "No, it's a Porterhouse, we don't carry T-Bone Steak." I went online and looked up Porterhouse, information said, Porterhouse Steak is the King of T-bone Steak Server, " Cut the Steak in the middle to see if it's the way you want it." The Steak was thin about 1/4 inch thin and cooked well done, the worst! Me, "No,it's well done, please take this away." Server, "Would you like another?" Me, "No, I'll eat at home." This is when the server displayed an attitude. My soup spoon had what looked like to have had dried tomato on it, the forks and spoons had water spots and smudge marks that I wiped off with my napkin. My granddaughters duck was nice, but the green beans tasted rancid. I asked the server if the beans were cooked with oil. Server "No" it was sauteed." Me, "Look at it,if it's sauteed,it does have oil in it." Server, "Yes", "Everyone likes it" Me "I don't care about everyone, it's rancid,we don't want it." I wanted to speak to the manager, I was told there wasn't a manager, that I could talk to the Bartender. Then one of the hostess said, I'll get the manager downstairs. When the hostess came back, she said, " The manager said " Since I've been comped, there nothing she can do." My interest in talking to a manager was to tell her about our experience. I've always enjoyed my time at Bube's, but I must say, this is the worst experience I've had with Bube's. I will not recommend Bube's to any new comers to this area. One star rating is to much for this place.
Called ahead for reservations for 12 people. We had to put $100 deposit down to hold it. Arrived to find 2 separate tables of 6 were saved for us back to back so we couldn't even have a conversation with half of our guests. No one was in there! There was more than enough room elsewhere for our party. This is a brewery, but when I asked for a beer list or to get more info on their beers, the waitor said they didn't have one and to just tell him what I wanted and he'd get me something. I asked about their own kriek lambic beer which is the only one I saw listed anywhere and he said they didn't have it. This is why a current beer list is needed. Food and beverages took forever. Maybe because they were all too busy with their Halloween party downstairs they didn't care about those few dining upstairs. We waited 30 minutes to take the tour of the catacombs after our meal. Tour took 5 minutes and the tour guide acted like it was a bother to show us around. We went outside to get some air by the dark, dirty, and empty pool table area. Some seriously drunk patrons told us to" get away from their table right now." Overall one of the weirdest dining experiences I have ever experienced. The only good thing was that the food was hot and tasty.
Save your money and go to a Waffle House...it's probably more sanitary. For a friend's anniversary, we decided to attend the medieval feast...who would not love a feast? we were clearly warned of innuendo and connotation so we were prepared for unsavory jokes and double meanings. We were not prepared for shirts being removed for massages, people being rubbed down with licked forks, or dripping real candle wax on a person's bare chest at the dinner table! Oh, and the feast? Well, after sitting for 4 hours watching smutty, filthy (both meanings apply) massages (which cost extra) and little entertainment (and that bit was poorly done) from "the cast", our feast consisted of cold green beans, over cooked and under seasoned rice "pilaf", watered down ale and wine, and dry roast beef for the main course. AND THEN when I called, the manager had to return my call. He left a message for me saying that I was full of crap, but never took the time to talk to me in spite of 3 phone calls. Bottom line: If you like expensive, bad food and cheap talk, this place may be for you. Otherwise, if you are insterested in a sensual activity while dining, save yourself a few bucks, grab a good burger, and go to a "massage parlor." If you want a nice dinner, go ANYWHERE else. ABSOLUTELY. THE. WORST. FOOD. EXPERIENCE. IN. MY LIFE!
We come here often from Delaware for events, like Halloween and murder mystery dinners. Those are great. I think the food is overpriced so we don't eat here very much. We went to a medieval feast and didn't enjoy it. We came for an improv comedy show which was AWESOME, but they stopped having them! 😐 There is no place more happening than their Halloween party. My boyfriend has only missed one in 28 years!!!
I really wanted to like this place because it is really cool inside. But our service wasn't very good. Our waitress barely acknowledged us didn't even ask if how our food was. She asked us if he wanted refills but we did not get our refills until after we ate which it would have been better to have drinks with our food. And my boyfriends beer on tap wasn't very cold. Our food was satisfactory but was expecting a little more for our first time being here and telling our waitress that. The bartenders and staff were too busy talking to each other and making fun of other customers and how much they left for tips and whatnot to acknowledge the service they were providing is what they receive in tips and making the experience the best that they can. We will most likely not be back and will not be recommending this to anyone. We would like to have visited the catacombs but if that experience is like this we will definitely not be going there.
