  • Excellent environment, a trip to the century XIX, be in catacombs original to 15 meters of depth listening to music of minstrelsy, is something of what never I going to forget. Keep in mind that there are stairs.

  • The building is very interesting, but that is the only thing this place has going for it. They only had 3 of their own beers on tap the night we were there. The sour stout was okay, and my Kriek Lambr...  read more »

  • I really wanted to like this place because it is really cool inside. But our service wasn't very good. Our waitress barely acknowledged us didn't even ask if how our food was. She asked us if he wanted refills but we did not get our refills until after we ate which it would have been better to have drinks with our food. And my boyfriends beer on tap wasn't very cold. Our food was satisfactory but was expecting a little more for our first time being here and telling our waitress that. The bartenders and staff were too busy talking to each other and making fun of other customers and how much they left for tips and whatnot to acknowledge the service they were providing is what they receive in tips and making the experience the best that they can. We will most likely not be back and will not be recommending this to anyone. We would like to have visited the catacombs but if that experience is like this we will definitely not be going there.
  • The wife and I went there on Monday August 15, 2016 around 1600 hours for a late lunch and to use a Local Flavor coupon I purchased for this business. I'm not even sure where to start. All of the food was pretty lousy and a very long wait to get sub-par food no less, and, we were the only patrons in the bar seating area. Speaking of the bar seating area which there were two sections; front and rear. We sat in the front section which was well lighted but super hot and stuffy with no air conditioning. After a few minutes we could not stand it any more and moved to the rear section encased by old stone walls and this area was air conditioned and super cold and very dark, not well lighted. Our server Taylor greeted us with some menus and we told her this was our first time here in the bar area and would need a few minutes to look over the menu. Taylor returned several times to see if we were ready to order, we were not but did have questions about the menu. Taylor did not know the menu nor could she explain how most items were prepared and needed to go ask. As it turns out most if not all items were frozen, not freshly prepared. Example, the wife wanted Fish & Chips but for the price they were charging it was not worth paying that amount for frozen fish, and so-on for most of the remaining items on the menu. Finally we ordered Alois Fries as an appetizer and one Chicken-Parm sandwich, cold-slaw with ice tea and one Mt. Joy Burger cooked to Medium Well with cold-slaw and a diet-coke. While waiting for our food we watched who I think was the manager change a light bulb in the rear bar-tending area after which he sat at the rear of the bar area drinking beer-after-beer from a picture and occasionally he would get off the bar stool and go behind the bar area to tap a draft of beer for himself. After a long wait the Alois Fries came out and they were fairly hot and tasted pretty darn good. Finally the main course of food came out. Well my Chicken-Parm Sandwich was cold, the chicken was gummy and the cheese was not even melted. Clearly the chicken was not deep-fried but prepared in a microwave…what a disappointment. I ordered this because the server recommended it and said she ate it regularly, saying how good it was. I ate about two bites and could not stomach any more of this discussing sandwich. The cold-slaw was terrible, tasted like dish water and I did not eat it. The wife had the Mt. Joy Burger cooked to Medium Well and it had thick bacon on the burger. The bacon was the best part of the sandwich, thick, cooked to perfection and had a great taste; I think it may have been Apple-wood Bacon. The burger not so much; the wife after a few bites said it tasted funny so she cut it in half so I could have some seeing my Chicken-Parm was not fit for human consumption. After a couple of bites I kind-of-agreed with her that the burger tasted funny so we held it up to what little light was available at out table and guess what, the burger was cooked rare-to med-rare..NOT.. Medium Well as requested. We called our server Taylor over and told her about both sandwich’s and she said she was sorry about how the food was prepared but that was it… She never offered any replacements nor did she say a manager would come over to see us. We threw away more food than we ordered for the main course..PATHETIC..!!! The wife was furious and just wanted to leave. I requested my bill and paid what I owed and left. Sadly I purchased several coupons and have I believe three more to use. Guess I will order the Alois Fries, ice-tea and maybe dessert next time to use up the coupons… Bad investment; I would recommend being very careful on what you order, ask in detail how they will prepare the food and most importantly inspect your food when served… Maybe bring along a flashlight along to see and inspect your food before eating.
  • When you walk into a restaruant the team should most likely greet you? Server, disinterested and should find a profession she enjoys. The reason we went to Bube's is because of its website proclaiming how unique it is and how there are different rooms and experienced but they had a private event (understandable) but perhaps they could be a bit more savvy and have an option on their website stating live information about which rooms are open and available. Food decent, service not intuitive and careless.
  • Probably a top 10 WORST restaurant experience I've ever had. First off, we looked for reviews on Facebook, to no luck, because their reviews are hidden (obviously we know why now). We decided to take a stab anyways, we walked in and there was hardly anyone there for 6/615 in the evening except at the front-side of the bar. That worried us ontop of the hidden Facebook reviews. The waitress asked us if we wanted to sit at the bar and showed us the less crowded back side. We went for it, as we like to drink. We sat there for 5 minutes easily while 3 employees passed us without saying a word or acknowledging our presence. One even had the nerve to fill a glass directly in front of us while another gentlemen checked the bar around us, again, ignoring us. We laughed and decided to leave. Not even worth raising a scene, asking questions or anything. A simple "we will be right with you" would have saved 2 easy-going eaters that like to drink. But your staff opted to ignore us. I will also be taking this to Yelp and TripAdvisor.
  • There is only one thing to say about this place and the service this evening: WOW!!! Upon entrance, we were greeted by the hostess who was polite and approachable and directed us to the bar first because we were quite early for our reservation. Mike the bartender took great care of us, making sure we were comfortable, satisfied and entertained. And man oh man was he busy...a few large parties at the bar paired with some outside patrons and tables kept him moving but he stayed on top of it well! His cocktails were perfect, and his knowledge on the menu and suggestions paired wonderfully with the drinks he made for us. We had a few appetizers, cocktails, and a sampling of Bube's beer (they are a brewery after all) to start in the Bottling Works (which also has an outdoor German style Biergarten) followed by dinner in the Catacombs! Anne was a wonderful and friendly server. There were many customers down there as well and Anne handled them with professionalism, friendliness, and perfect service. Taylor the cocktail server was knowledgeable and friendly. The history of the building is absolutely incredible. In the Catacombs specifically, you dine in the original lagering caves of this 19th century brewery, super neat! All around great food, great service, and a place that you NEED to see if you're a beer, great food, and history lover!
