  • We are members so we go at least once a week, always recommend the winery to friends, great place to go with your husband,or just friend, love to go in spring, summer and fall it feels like you are on vacation away from it all, awesome very friendly people.
  • Arguably one of the best wineries on the East Coast. Superb wines, great atmosphere, and excellent and knowledgeable staff. This winery is also environmentally sustainable. If you are looking for inexpensive, sweet & fruity wines, you should go elsewhere....there are plenty of those around.
  • Beautiful tasting room and land, well developed Bordeaux style wine, very friendly and knowledgable staff. Free tours! This place is putting Maryland on the map for serious wine making - no fruity stuff here!
  • I love, love the winery itself. Everyone was very friendly. I just didn't care for the wine. I like sweet fruity wines, and their wines were not to my taste. They were also a little pricey, like $50 a bottle.
  • Black ankle is a fantastic example of where Maryland wineries are going. One of the few that is completely estate, meaning they grow, make and bottle their own wine, the quality shows in their wine. The owners are passionate about what they are doing which is evident when you talk to them about their vision and wine making philosophy. Caitlyn, their manager, (forgive me if I spelled wrong) is amazing. One of the nicest, most bubbly people I have ever met. And she knows wine! People complain about the price, wine is a luxury product. If you don't want to pay, go elsewhere. Their price reflects their desire to be a small boutique winery that focuses on quality. I support that! Wine is not easy to make, especially on the east coast. Support your local farmers.
