  • This is a wonderful place for birding, especially during the migration season - eagles, snow geese and many other species of waterfowl and other animals. Plus it is a beautiful and peaceful place to walk, bike, or drive around and look at the scenery. It is one of several wildlife refuges along the Missouri River.
  • I saw over ONE MILLION snow geese today! Migration season is an exciting time. This winter over 800 Swans stayed at the refuge. The Wildlife changes from season to season, but I enjoy it every time I go.
  • Great auto tour, beautiful area
  • Awe-inspiring when inhabited by vast numbers of migratory snow geese. Also makes for a serene, peaceful backdrop while you wait for your totaled car to get rolled back onto the wheels and towed off the interstate.
  • This is my favorite place to go to observe nature. The first time I went was in early December. There were Bald Eagles and over a quarter of a million ducks and geese. It was impressive. It was a two hour drive with 3 young kids and worth every minute.
