  • Went to Sand Dunes as a side trip to our annual visit to RMNP. The place is an amazing sight and the dunes are huge especially against the mountains. However, I should give people some heads up...

  • Amazing must-see place at least once! Lots of walking & it’s hot. Good walking shoes or water shoes are best. Don’t forget to rent sand boards (about $20 each for the day). They’re like snowboards & sleds but for the sand, So much fun! Bring lots of water, it’s a long walk to the first hill.
  • Great experience. Walking up the steep dunes is not as hard as it looks. The sand conforms to your shoe and creates a step as you climb. Hydrate well before climbing the dunes! Don’t wear sandals, the sand will be too hot on your feet. Sneakers with socks are best. Enjoy the awesome landscapes! One of a kind venue. Park entrance fee is $25 per car. This fee includes a brochure, a place to park, use of restrooms, foot wash stations, and drinking fountains. If you own a snowboard, bring it along with some wax for the board. Great family activity!
  • I have been here twice now and I just think it is beautiful. I was able to snag a campsite for a night and it was lovely. Regarding camping, it was a little hard to get my tent stakes in the ground, but other then that (and the cold) I really enjoyed it. I got to see the snow on the top of the sand dunes in the morning while building a fire. It was great! The stars at night are gorgeous. The moon was almost full and I could still see the stars. The sand dunes almost glow in the moonlight.
  • It was a different experience to see the majestic green mountains and sand dunes in the same frame. That was something astonishing and the sunset at sand dunes awesome. But our booked camping site was inside scary jungle where there was no one else just we. So we decided to sleep inside our car
  • Amazing!! Stunning. A must see National Park. You can also camp here. I recommend making reservations to get a spot. Make sure you have enough water when hiking and proper shoes. Also in the summertime there is a nice river from the run off not to deep but fun to play in or you can always slide down a dune. A definite must see. Would highly recommend. Also great little camping areas UFO area, Drive-in movie Hotel or other near by or lodging if you know where to look What an Adventure you can have!!! Also don't forget the Colorado Gators reptile Park.
