Morrison Natural History Museum is the "small museum with big discoveries." The first giant Jurassic dinosaurs were found at Morrison, Colorado in 1877. Active research of local Jurassic rocks have yielded famous baby dinosaur footprints that have been featured in 'Smithsonian' magazine and media outlets around the world. These finds nourish touchable exhibits that are designed to be toured with a guide.

A visit is the perfect orientation to the Red Rocks and Dinosaur Ridge areas.

  • I went last week with my 4 year old son to a birthday party there, and it is amazing! They have the first ever baby stegosaurus foot print and so many more unique fossils. There is even a room where y...  read more »
  • We really enjoyed the awkward photo exhibit. Clean roomy museum with lots of interesting exhibits. Location in beautiful downtown Denver.
  • While driving the scenic byways and stopping in the town of Morrison I decided to follow the signs to the local history Museum. I did not know what to expect! Sharon was my tour guide and she was a de...  read more »
  • This is a hidden gem. We were there for a birthday party and they have a great little tour. They let the kids help with excavation and touch more fossils than some of the bigger museums. It's nitty a big place but they've got things like a sandbox to dig in that will keep younger ones entertained for a good while.
  • So much science and learning for such a small place. One on one tours, amazing fossils, and hands on learning... You get to help carve real fossils out of rock. The staff are so friendly and want to not only educate you about what they have on-site, but help you know where else to go in the area for a great vacation.
  • Excellent museum, you can get up close and personal with the fossils! so much fun and the staff are very nice. I definitely recommend visiting.
  • Such a cool experience. My brothers, cousin and I are all in our mid to late twenties and were looking for something fun to do since it was snowing. We found a Groupon and decided to check out this museum in Morrison. We got our own individual tour and learned so many cool facts about the fossils found throughout the region. You can even touch the fossils!!!! And their paleontologist tech let us try our hand at drilling through sandstone to remove a fossil in their lab. By far one of the most interesting, engaging, and educational museum visits for kids and adults of any age!
  • My experience was more than incredible!! We had a tour guide, Doug- who made this trip so amazing. He taught me and my 4 year old more than we could have ever imagined- and kept my 4 year old interested the whole time. We were able to TOUCH real dinosaur bones... and the paleontologist upstairs let us help him in his work with the dinosaur bones!! I got to talk with a very FAMOUS paleontologist and writer Robert Bakker there. He was so nice and taught us about his theories. Wow, what an experience we will never forget!!!
