  • If just visiting, the hiking is great. It is right along a river and mostly flat. Various trails with shade. If you are from sea level, this park is good starting point....about 5800 feet. Enjoy!  more »
  • Several hiking trails, some are flat and follow the creek while one trail climbs up a bluff (easy to moderate) and is a bit rocky and narrow in places. Good family hikes, not too strenuous. Lots of sh...  more »
  • Loved the trails. Beautiful creek. Parking was a ridiculous situation. Go early to park in the lot otherwise you have to park way up on the road.  more »

  • This area is great for short walks or hiking into the mountains. The main walkway is 1-1/3 mile and parallels Bear Creek heading West. It takes you buy an old Castle and some beautiful scenery. We enjoy bringing our dogs, and they love getting into the water for a swim. Very relaxed park, trail shared with bicyclists, so watch your back as sometimes they don't let you know their behind you. Most often they are very courteous. Only one area not far from the start, where trail is very narrow and twisted so you have to watch out for others coming in the other direction.
  • The Bear Creek trail has excellent shade and good elevation gain with a few interesting rocky spots for a change of pace. The parking lot fills up quickly on weekends, and there is very limited rogue overflow parking on the main road. I'd suggest arriving by 9 in the summer. Great option for hiking, running, and mountain biking. There is a lot of signage encouraging bikes to yield, and we had good experiences as hikers. If you are going to ride, consider a bell, especially a continuous one like the TimberBell.
  • Great hiking spot close to Denver. Family friendly and well-populated, this is a great place to introduce people to Colorado nature. The hikes are relatively short, but give great views of the surrounding foothills and valleys. The wildflowers that line parts of the trail are also beautiful. The river that runs through the park is very high at the moment, but it definitely makes this a good place to cool down in the summer. The running water and shade mean that you'll at least feel a small temp drop.
  • Great for kids and adults who don't want a difficult hike but want to get close to nature. Plenty of spots to wade in the creek. Lots of areas for dogs to cool off. Partially shaded trail, lots of pine trees so pause and soak in the smells.
  • This is a great place to hike, picnic and chill by the river. There are a couple different trails and some pretty views. This park does get pretty crowded and you need to watch out for the bikers. Overall a really fun place for the whole family
