  • This is a must stop. Doesn't look like much from the road but that big steel has a whole recreated block on old time western shops. The proprietor is a wealth of knowledge.

  • I live in Montrose and I still love going to this museum even after the many tours I have taken with family and friends over the years. It is a labor of love for Rich, the owner and has been for so many years as he started collecting artifacts at the ripe old age of four. He was an archaeologist for the States of Utah and Colorado before he retired. Now he works tirelessly on this amazing place and has so many wonderful and colorful stories to go along with this collection of over 500,000 artifacts! Do yourself a favor, come to Montrose for a week or two and don't miss this unique one of a kind Museum of the Mountain West.
  • Every detail is perfectly displayed and presented with stories and history. This is a great place to tour and well worth your time. The owner, Richard Fike, autographed his book for me! Our tour guide was Mike who shared in detail, the history of every room and building. Just don't miss it!
  • This place is awesome! The staff is very knowledgeable, and painstaking care has been taken to set up vignettes of life with the artifacts that were found. The tour takes about 2 hrs, but is worth every minute for the j fo you learn. The entrance fee is very reasonable. The buildings are original, or replicas of originals...we really enjoyed our visit of the museum. My boys still talk about it.
  • Absolutely an amazing collection of historical artifacts and buildings. Well worth the time. Don't do a quick visit. Do the entire guided tour.
  • This place is incredible! Each item has a story behind it. I visited from Mississippi about a year ago when I was staying with relatives in Montrose and told them that we had to visit this place. Can't wait to go back.
