  • Life changing! This tour taught me so much about Dr. King and it brought him to life for me. Something about being in his house made Dr. King and the movement palpable and accessible.  more »

  • I visited the Parsonage with my students and Dr. Shirley Cherry, our tour guide, was very knowledgeable about Dr. King’s time in Montgomery. She even gave personal anecdote’s of her experiences knowing Dr. King and his family. She also imparted “life lessons” and wisdom on us. I would definitely recommend this place to anyone!
  • I took the tour with my docent, Victory. She was quite knowledgeable and she really opened my eyes! I had the best tour experience there. If you're ever in Montgomery, do not miss it!
  • Great hour tour. It was just what we were looking for on MLK day. The tour might not start off great. They have you watch a 10-15 min poorly produced video of the home’s history before going over. In my opinion they could completely cut that out. The talking and in-person storytelling was much better. The tour guide did an awesome job telling the story of 54-60 as though we were there. He had lots of anecdotal evidence and retrospection, meeting history. I don’t think he could have done a better job delivering historic wonderment to the kids in the group. He tailored the tour to the audience well. There may be some points that are more round about, but the tour is a well spent hour of your time while in Montgomery. Make sure to follow the Dexter Parsonage up with going to the MLK’s Church on 454 Dexter Ave!
  • We had a 2 hr. tour with Dr. Shirley Cherry. She includes everyone on the tour & really makes you feel like you are a part of the Dr. Martin Luther King story.
  • Glencile, my tourguide, was a very lovely and good story teller. At first you get to see a movie, then pictures and newspaper articles are shown. Afterwards you'll get a tour through the actual house MLK and his family lived at before he became the Civil Rights Movement leader. The house itself looks well maintained and clean. I found the tour(approx. 1hour) worth the money(USD 12,- in March 2018) and enjoyable. No pictures allowed anywhere but outside the house. There's a small parkinglot at the back of the house, the reception/small souvenirshop is there as well, with very friendly employees.
