  • The catamaran is an exciting sailing ship, run by a man who explains it all, and cares for his guests. I now take the trip each time I come to Momtauk.
  • We arranged for a 3 hour private sail on The Mon Tiki to celebrate my mother's 80th birthday. There were 9 of us and we all had a terrific time! Captain Dave could not have been more professional and ...  more »
  • We are nearing 70 years. My wife was worried about sea sickness but the catamaran did not rock side to side. A large younger group came onboard and we all had a great time together. Thanks Capt. for t...  more »

  • This is the 3rd year in a row we took a Sunset sail on Mon Tiki. As always, the crew was super friendly, helpful, and knowledgable with all our questions. We didn't have much wind this year but enough to keep the sails full and we still had a fantastic sunset. It was super cool seeing their new boat Mon Tiki Largo motoring out of the harbor for the first time. I highly recommend this unique style catamaran cruise!
  • My family of 5 was excited to sunset sail with MonTiki last week. Prior to loading the boat my 6 yr old almost stepped off the dock. My wife had a knee jerk reaction to call out his name loudly. This is when captain David told my wife to "dial it down a notch" and to "let him fall I the water and I will get him." I suppose that would have made for a calmer atmosphere? After the incident was over Captin David kept pushing the issue. First he wanted to take my 3 young boys away for a private conversation without my consent. Then he took me aside and told me he would refund my money and not let us board because he was concerned for my wife's reactions. Keep in mind this was way past the single incident of my son almost falling in the water. I strongly felt that Captain David was looking for an excuse to have an adult only sunset cruise. This should have been conveyed to us prior to making such arrangements. Steer away if you have a young family.
  • This evening, my family and I had the pleasure of sailing with Captain David on his handcrafted boat MonTiki. What a treat! We met some wonderful families and enjoyed a breathtaking sunset. Capt. David was so kind to my kids. He helped them discover schools of fish and even let them take turns steering the boat. This is an excursion we will plan to do every summer during our vacation. The entire evening was a delight.
  • What more can I say about Captain David and the Mon-Tiki experience. Not only was the sail an absolute treat, but David also assisted me in one of the most special moments in my life-my proposal to my fiancĂ©. I cannot thank him enough for going over and beyond for me-from coordinating with him weeks ahead of time to set the plan in place and orchestrating the plan to perfection that day. Oh yes, I forgot to mention, the sail in its only right (minus the proposal) was fantastic. The catamaran was built by David himself and takes tremendous pride in showing its patrons a memorable time, courtesy of the majestic landscape Montauk has to offer. The price is very reasonable, $60 each, which is like a fishbowl at the SloppyTuna and a ride a Soul Cycle. You bring your own booze and if David is feeling jazzy, he plays guitar for you free or charge! This is an ideal thing to do when visiting Montauk for families or a romantic evening
  • If you are looking for a wonderful experience on the water, with only the sounds of the water beneath your feet, take a short ride with the Mon Tiki. It was one of the most breathing experiences I have had.
