  • We decided to take the grandchildren to the zoo. t was hot but a great day and the zoo staff were friendly helpful and unobtrusive, The cost is remarkably inexpensive and although it is not a large zoo like say San Diego it is a pleasant day a good selection of animals and open so the kids feel unrestricted. The boat rice is pleasant and more than worthwhile lasting about 20 minutes. The driver /guide was pleasant, knowledgeable and skillful in handling the boat and indeed also the kids. Very with while day trip
  • Been to a lot of zoos, and this one is my favorite. It's quaint and a little run down, but the animals look good and seem happy. They have some beautiful cats and a number of different primates. The staff are all friendly. Something special happens every time we go.
  • If you enjoy monkeys....it looks like they're trying to fix it up, but there isn't a whole lot to see and do. We enjoyed the monkeys though!
  • Ok let me start by saying this zoo is absolutely amazing the animal are all very well cared for and the park was very clean but the habitats need some work as they are all very old. The splash pad made us all feel like kids again and they put the animals so close to you that you almost feel like you can walk up and grab one tho i would strongly recommend that you don't as that is very dangerous not only to yourself and people around you but also to the animals. If you are in the area i would definitely say this is a must see zoo you will definitely remember this as one of the best zoo's you've ever been to and at 4.50 a person its a real steal. WE ARE MOST DEFINITELY COMING BACK.
  • Limited by acreage and what appears to be local corporate sponsorship, this zoo really has done a nice job. The grounds and gardens are beautiful, the boat ride is likewise beautiful and truly unique among zoos, really a Louisiana treasure. The splash pad and petting zoo are great recent additions. Yes some of the exhibits need some TLC, but it is a great local spot, and I wonder why there is not more corporate sponsorship from Century Link, St. Francis, etc.
