Architectural Building Art Museum
Russian/Moorish-styled Corn Palace, decorated with murals and designs from corn and other grains, features a new design every year. New murals are designed annually out of more than 275,000 ears of corn to cover the outside of the building. This tradition began in 1892, when town officials decided to showcase crops in an effort to get pioneers to realize the potential of the soil so they would settle in the area. Today, the palace is a multipurpose building, hosting numerous community events and exhibits. You can see pictures from the previous years' happenings. • It's cool and worth an hour if you are in this part of South Dakota. Pictures on the outside of building are made with ears of corn split lengthwise. Free admission.  more »
  • Not what I expected. I thought somehow it was made of corn but it is only the facade that is covered in corn. Something to see to stretch your legs and it's free. Parking nearby is also free.  more »

  • The Corn Palace is very fascinating. So much to learn here. The Corn murals are awesome. The children's education center is super and fun. It's a great place to watch the reactions of the tourists and a nice venue for various shows and sports events. Free admission, too.
  • This is one of those places you just dhould do. It's cool to see the design and read how thousands of corn con, husks, etc are used to make them. The history here is rich... It only takes 20 to 30 minutes.. Self paced... I highly recommend it..
  • Contrary to my childhood imaginings, it is not actually a palace made of corn. It is a convention center/giant gift shop with murals made of corn glued to the walls. Although the murals are pretty cool, and obviously took a lot of work to construct, I was quite disappointed when I finally stopped there for a visit because it is so played up by their advertising. Considering that it is free and has clean bathrooms, it is not a bad to stop while traveling I-90. No admission charge either.
  • I enjoyed it but I had also been there about 10 yrs ago so seeing all the different ones was awesome. My little ones werent too impressed but their still pretty young yet.
  • Basically a souvenir shop inside a building covered with corn in unique ways creating pleasing visual displays. Interesting for a drive by.
