Rocky Mountain Elk Foundation reviews
Nice exhibit, smaller than I expected. The facility has numerous high-quality examples of elk, but the inside part of the facility can be visited in about half an hour. Worth seeing, just budget your.... more »

This is a great little stop in Missoula. I suspect it is under visited because it is tucked away in the north side of I90. If you are into wildlife, preservation or hunting it is a worthwhile stop. They have really nice collection of large animals and an exhibit where kids can touch feel different animal hides, feel the weight of antlers and hear many of the sounds associated with elk. They have a cool animated map the shows how the different elk herds migrate, taken from real tracking data. They also explain how hunting is used to help manage herds and keep the population from growing out of control. They have several videos targeted to different ages. There is a nice path through the woods outside. Signs along the path explain how the different plants and environs support elk in the wild. Overall in interesting little stop. My kids enjoyed it and would probably visit again if we had a little more time, especially for the outdoor hike.
Great interactive displays. Never thought I would hear Elk call inside a museum or watch the various herds migrate through Yellowstone. This museum should be required before Yellowstone for anyone interested in the Yellowstone wildlifeSeeing the full size mounts with a message of conservation was outstanding. This museum is great. We were warmly greeted by the receptionist.
Beautiful building. Lots of taxidermy - wasn't expecting that. A very informative museum/education center focusing on the various efforts to maintain a healthy elk population in the local geographical area and beyond.
Highly recommend stopping in. It's so interesting and a beautiful building. They have lots of awesome taxidermy on display.
As a hunter this is like Disneyland for me. For those not from the west this is a great educational experience. Not a lengthy visit and even has a brief nature interpretive trail. Good place for kids, too.
