  • After living in Mississippi for over 10 years now, we finally made it out to Flora to visit this amazing petrified forest and I'm so glad we did. My oldest son, who is 11, was our "trail guide" as he elected to read aloud each of the numbered facts for us as we walked along. My 9 year old loved the cool, higher peaks and wished he could have climbed them all. Could definitely see us going back again when my younger boys (5 & 7) get a bit older so they can truly appreciate this special place. I have to say how very kind and so welcoming the owners were, when we arrived back I had some further questions and the sweet couple behind the counter happily answered them and even pulled out some of their oldest books to show us pictures and other detailed facts about the petrified forest. I found it all really interesting. All 4 of my boys loved panning for gems afterwards as well, and their indoor exhibits were equally fascinating to look at. Overall, a fun learning experience for my family!
  • National natural landmark since the 1960s. Nice walking tour and cool rock and mineral museum. Dogs on leashes welcome.
  • I loved it!!! Definitely recommend going! It's absolutely beautiful and fun for all ages!
  • First off, my expectations were to be able to walk trails through a FOREST and this is not that at all. Its a short trail that takes about 30 minutes to walk unless you take your time and stretch it out. Your also not allowed to get off the trail. Thats a bummer but I underatand why. Now as far as the shop, information, and shop clerk's knowledge was really good. They have all sorts of cool colorful stones and trinkets for sale. There is a lot of good information in this place regarding the petrification process and relative things. If your planning for time only plan on spending 2 hours or so max here. This is the perfect place for any archeology students or for a class field trip. Or even just as something cool to show the kids. Just dont be fooled. Its nowhere close to being an actual forest.
  • Very nice, relaxing stroll through the petrified forest with a lovely gift shop.
