  • Finished lunch at a wonderful pizza place (see separate review for Pizzeria Lola) and needed to blow a few hours before heading back downtown to the hotel. This fit the bill. It's located in a sleepy ...  more »

  • Very interesting place. Beautifull building. Has a shop where there are many interesting products to buy. Free tea, but it is very strong tea so watch out. Overall a great experience!
  • The Museum of Russian Art, or TMORA, is a window into an oft-maligned culture. Rarely am I bored when I visit, and the cultural events are wonderful (particularly if you're learning the language like I am). A word of warning; they are a bit White Russian for my taste, but they're adults about it, and fully acknowledge the existence of the Red viewpoint.
  • The Icon exhibit was amazing. Detailed descriptions, beautiful artwork. Fully accessible to wheelchairs.
  • Unique venue. The gallery was converted from a church. There's a two-level gallery with an open upper level that allows you to look down into the main. I like the specific focus on Russian art. Art is a great way to learn about a culture. The gallery is not large, probably a 2 hour stop.
  • This was my first time at the Russian Museum of Art. They had three showings at the time and I toured two of them with a docent. It was an excellent experience and I would recommend it to anyone that is considering going to this Art Museum.

Where to stay in Minneapolis

To stay in the thick of tourist action, choose a hotel in downtown Minneapolis. This area offers many independent and chain hotels, with rooms that range from budget-friendly to high-end. You can also stay close to the area by exploring mid-range hotels just a few blocks from downtown that are set in quieter neighborhoods with fewer tourists. If you have access to a car and don't mind driving to most major attractions, you can consider a good value motel or inn just outside the city.
