  • Very nice free Museum which has brightened my w-e in Minneapolis. I recommend, there was a bit of everything, quick to visit.

  • We enjoy taking our granddaughter to MIA anytime, really, but especially during Art-in-Bloom. This much anticipated spring event has MIA partnering with florists to create the pairing of an art object...  more »
  • While there is a suggested donation, MIA is a great thing to do if you're looking for something free. The exhibits and art are spectacular. Can go back many times and alway see something new.  more »

  • I could spend endless days exploring every corner of Mia! I discover and learn something new every time, even if I'm wandering an exhibit I've already been through. Every inch is captivating and inspiring. Art offers a beautiful way to learn about both ancient and recent history from around the world. All around phenomenal. Highly recommend visiting if you haven't already!
  • The 3rd floor was great. The living room exhibit was interesting and worth seeing. I also liked the rooms with the large murals. I was disappointed the Cafe was closed for the summer. But a great Minneapolis treasure!
  • Favorite place in the city. You don't need to spend a whole afternoon there because you feel the need to get your moneys worth. It is free so if you have 30 minutes to spare its even a nice pit stop on our often over scheduled days. Donations are accepted.
  • Went here for the first time for Pride and it was a great experience! Great event with so much to see/do. All staff were super friendly and inviting. I need to come back here to see the exhibits!
  • Excellent art museum. Really enjoyed the contemporary art and the Dutch golden age art. Spent hours at the museum and still didn't see everything. The 1800's Impressionism room was also great and featured works by many big name artists.

Where to stay in Minneapolis

To stay in the thick of tourist action, choose a hotel in downtown Minneapolis. This area offers many independent and chain hotels, with rooms that range from budget-friendly to high-end. You can also stay close to the area by exploring mid-range hotels just a few blocks from downtown that are set in quieter neighborhoods with fewer tourists. If you have access to a car and don't mind driving to most major attractions, you can consider a good value motel or inn just outside the city.
