  • This place is a summer must ... As often as possible! Why? •Free live music (check online for schedule? • A great place to pause, after or during a spin around the lake, take in the view and breezes off of the water • Clean Restrooms • Tons of Seating • Bread and Pickle - a casual, walk up to window and wait for your order place but otherwise, far from the typical, waterside, snack bar. Tip Look for free parking around the lake or down nearby streets.
  • All sorts of activities of you love waking biking or swimming, or just sitting on the shore. Kayaking and paddle boats available too. Beach is kind of small, but kids would enjoy it. • Terrific pavilion with yoga every morning and music every afternoon through the summer. Bring a picnic or try the food at bread and pickle next to the pavilion. And kids are happy to at the newly remodeled playground area.
  • Been coming here for 20 years and never had a bad time. Convenient food service at the Band Shell. Beautiful beaches. Fun for the whole family.
  • Great place for a relaxing picnic or walk, not as crowded as Lake Calhoun, which is a free trolley ride or short walk north. Free concerts at the bandshell in the summer and tasty treats at the Bread & Pickle cafe!

Where to stay in Minneapolis

To stay in the thick of tourist action, choose a hotel in downtown Minneapolis. This area offers many independent and chain hotels, with rooms that range from budget-friendly to high-end. You can also stay close to the area by exploring mid-range hotels just a few blocks from downtown that are set in quieter neighborhoods with fewer tourists. If you have access to a car and don't mind driving to most major attractions, you can consider a good value motel or inn just outside the city.
