Lake Harriet, Minneapolis

Categories: Bodies of Water, Nature & Parks
Inspirock Rating:
4.7/5 based on 460+ reviews on the web
A good place for a leisurely stroll and picnic, Lake Harriet covers 135.5 hectares (335 acres) and is surrounded by several bike and pedestrian trails. Along the paths you'll find two beaches, refreshment stands, a marina, and a bandshell from which you can often hear live music. The lake is dotted with picturesque sailboats, but you'll also see canoes, kayaks, pedal boats, and stand-up paddle boards. Tourists can rent smaller boats and mountain bikes from a nearby rental shop. Don't miss the famed "elf house" carved into the base of a tree, where visitors leave letters for the elf. Rumor has it that the elf is diligent with his replies--a few days later you might just find a response. • A great lake to walk around or spend time at a free concert at the band shell. Good food at the concessions. Always like a trip to the lake.
  • Take your camera so that you capture beautiful photos and a good coat or raincoat if it comes to rain, I recommend that you take any tours to paddle on the Lake and have better views wearing good shoes to walk on Earth and stone. It is not difficult in some cases there are good trails.
