The Pabst Mansion, Milwaukee

(4.5/5 based on 700+ reviews on the web)
Tour opulent The Pabst Mansion to discover what life looked like from the top during the Gilded Age. Capt. Frederick Pabst, the founder of Pabst Brewing Co., built this 37-room, 14-fireplace palace between 1890 and 92. As you tour the mansion, which is now a museum, you can see large paintings that Capt. Pabst hung on the walls, as well as highly detailed and embellished furnishings that adorn many rooms. • One of 3 mansions remaining in what was once a very affluent neighborhood. Support historical preservation and enjoy a visit to this time period. The tour includes an impressive remnant from the Worlds Fair.
  • Great place. Lots of detailed wood work and craftsmanship. I wished we could have seen a floor plan of the place. They give you access to most areas of the house. Very friendly staff.
  • Beautiful building and our tour guide were great at informing us about the building. My only issue was with his flashlight. He uses it to direct peoples attention to objects in the building but if you're the person standing in front of the object he'll shine it right in your face (very bright light). It happened to me twice and a few other people in our group as well.
  • It's great fun stepping back into the early 1900's! Such beautiful original ornate woodwork to view everywhere. The bonus is to have its original restored furniture and a great deal original to the home!Thank you for the for foresight of many generous people to save and restore this historical timepiece. A must see!
  • An amazing peak into life in the Gilded Age, as it was enjoyed by one of Old Milwaukee's most prominent families. Do take the guided tour. The docents are very knowledgeable.
