  • No need to travel abroad to experience a cathedral or basilica as magnificent as the Basilica of St. Josephat. The exterior structure is impressive , but the interior is nothing short of breathtaking....  more »
  • This church is a must for anyone visiting Milwaukee. Not only is it historic, but it is as beautiful as any European church!
  • I've been attending masses here for years, and every time is wonderful. The space just feels holy. I had told my family about it for months before I finally brought them, and, when I did, their jaws h...  more »

  • The Basilica is located on the southside of Milwaukee. It is designed to be similar to Saint Peter’s Basilica in Rome. In the mid 1890’s the Federal Building in Chicago was razed and the material was purchased to be used in construction of Saint Josaphats. More than 500 rail cars were used to bring the material to Milwaukee. It was dedicated in 1901. The intricate artwork is like nothing else in the city. It is on the National Register of Historic places. There is a self guided tour available (at no charge). Parking is available in the rear of the edifice. Everything is handicap accessible.
  • Such a breathtaking building. Great architecture and art displayed. Even the basement is beautiful! Very peaceful.
  • Gorgeous architecture, one of the largest domes in the world, free tours, must see in Wisconsin
  • The Basilica is awe inspiring, an arresting building when first seen, looking like a Roman building set in a typical south Milwaukee suburb. Stunning as the outside is, you need to go inside to experience the power of this place. The scale, its stained glass, beautiful lighting and ornamentation testify to the faith and vision of the Polish community who built this 100 years ago.
  • The lower church is special.....then you go upstairs....woa! They don't come close to building them like this anymore. Praise God as those that built and maintain this shrine have done.
