With over 40 galleries, Milwaukee Art Museum displays the work of artists ranging from self-taught folk geniuses to Pablo Picasso. Being itself an architectural landmark, famous for its moveable sunscreen in the shape of wings, that folds and unfolds twice daily, the museum has become an icon for Milwaukee. Apart from paintings, photographs, and video art, among many collections, you'll see Baroque and Renaissance furniture, tableware, and metalwork, as well as the best collection of German Renaissance clocks outside of Germany. The museum has some of the United States' finest collections of American decorative arts, Haitian art, and more. If you get hungry, take a peek at the menu in cafe Calatrava, with entrees inspired by the exhibition currently taking place. • I had always wanted to visit the Milwaukee Art Museum, especially with the unusual exterior of the building. I tend to shy away from museums due to the crowds in the Chicago area. Not here - the art m...  read more »

  • This Art Museum is located in one the most beautiful building, amazing architectural design. A great place to stop and enjoy an amazing view.
  • Amazing art work collection, very well kept and managed.Free first Monday of every month .Great art Kohl's work shop for kids.Great place to enjoy and appreciate art.
  • Their night events are amazing! This place has so much to offer. It's definitely worth the membership. It's an amazing space with so many options for art lovers, with both classic and modern pieces it's hard not to find something to talk and think about there.
  • This place has a surprisingly good collection for a museum in a city of its size. Good Americana collection, great tho small folk art collection, weirdly thorough contemporary collection, and a modern section that has surprisingly great snippets of important work including Gabrielle Munter and a Georgia Okeefe collection that, though not as large, is way better than the Georgia okeefe museum itself. Of course though it is expensive to get in unfortunately.
  • Fabulous home to a diverse collection. The building alone is worth the visit because it is do interesting from so many perspectives and different times of the day. The art collection was eclectic and worth walking through every gallery. We enjoyed the visit.
