Lake Park, Milwaukee
Categories: Nature & Parks
Lake Park, located on Lake Michigan in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, is an urban park covering 138.1-acre. The park is part of a mostly contiguous stretch of lakefront amenities that extend north from Milwaukee's downtown, including Bradford Beach, various parks, McKinley Marina, and the Milwaukee Art Museum. Lake Park was designed in the late 19th century by Frederick Law Olmsted, who also designed Central Park in New York City along with many others. Believing that access to nature had a civilizing and restorative effect on the urban public, Olmsted designed Lake Park in the Romantic tradition, with a preference for natural landscaping, winding paths, a variety of vistas, incorporation of wildlife, and a balance between active recreation and more passive enjoyment.A visit to Lake Park represents just the start of the adventure when you use our Milwaukee vacation trip planner to plot your vacation.
The park terrain includes both bluffs and ravines. In addition, Lake Park is home to the last remaining Indian mound in the city of Milwaukee. The others were destroyed by early settlers of the city and surrounding area.
It also contains the North Point Lighthouse, which was built in 1855.
A 6-hole golf course was built in 1903, expanding to 18 holes in 1930.

We went there for Pokemon Go, but the park is beautiful. There is a lot of controversy surrounding the use of the park for Pokemon Go, aside from that the park is huge and has some great views.
Really nice clean well maintained park. Check out the lighthouse, really picturesque. I didn't eat there but did look in on the restaurant which looks really nice. Also checked out the folks playing L... read more »
I came to Lake Park for the view and to play Pokemon Go with my husband. The city is definitely doing a decent job keeping it cleaned up. You would be amazed how little trash there is considering the THOUSANDS of people that are there on a daily basis now. The view of Lake Michigan is amazing anytime of the day. There is a beach down below too! The parking is great and there is lots of it. I highly recommend Lake Park for sure!
Coolest park in Milwaukee. Right off Lake Michigan, it has a wonderful playground that is almost always full of kids. The Park is enormous and beautifully designed. There is an abundance of trails and paths, an old light house that offers a very informative tour, and spectacular views of Lake Michigan. Our six year old never tires of this place . . .
Fantastic quiet park with lots to see and do. Interesting things to take note of while walking. Both historic and educational. Fantastic views of Lake Michigan!!! Plenty of picnic seating and seating by waterfalls. Lots of sunny and shaded places to sit by and enjoy or walk along the trail thru the park! Would definately go out of my way to spend the day there! Awesome place to go if you are Pokémon hunting!!!!
Usually to be a very quiet and empty park, good for peaceful walks. Now it is great place to hang out with friends and catch some rare pokemon. There so awesome types of pokemon here.
Always been a great scenic route when walking/running/biking but lately it's been a super hot spot for Pokémon Go. Lots of pokestops and you'll find every one of them with a lure. Happy hunting!
