Historic Third Ward, Milwaukee

(4.3/5 based on 850+ reviews on the web)
Walk through Historic Third Ward, the city's booming Art and Fashion District in an old warehouse setting. This neighborhood, which features about 10 square blocks listed on the National Register of Historic Places, used to be an Irish immigrant neighborhood full of factories. Today the city has filled these warehouses with hundreds of diverse businesses. The neighborhood has undergone a sort of renaissance, which is evident through its many boutique shops, restaurants, galleries, and hip residential buildings. The architecture alone is worth a look; it ranges from Victorian Gothic style to Art Deco-influenced designs. The area is home to the Broadway Theatre Center, Milwaukee Public Market, and Milwaukee Institute of Art and Design, which attracts many young artistic people and events to the area. • But a great place to visit. So much activity at the fair grounds. A cafe along the river's edge. So many places to eat and unique stores for shopping. Worked and enjoyed the area for four years.  more »
  • I just love walking down old historic streets and seeing the architecture in the buildings. Many restaurants and bars and shops to suit any need.  more »
  • The downtown Milwaukee especially in the evenings when offices are closed is desert. The Third Ward is the neighborhood that welcomes and gives warmth to the tourists.
