Historic Third Ward, Milwaukee

Categories: Neighborhoods, Tourist Spots
Inspirock Rating:
4.3/5 based on 750+ reviews on the web
Walk through Historic Third Ward, the city's booming Art and Fashion District in an old warehouse setting. This neighborhood, which features about 10 square blocks listed on the National Register of Historic Places, used to be an Irish immigrant neighborhood full of factories. Today the city has filled these warehouses with hundreds of diverse businesses. The neighborhood has undergone a sort of renaissance, which is evident through its many boutique shops, restaurants, galleries, and hip residential buildings. The architecture alone is worth a look; it ranges from Victorian Gothic style to Art Deco-influenced designs. The area is home to the Broadway Theatre Center, Milwaukee Public Market, and Milwaukee Institute of Art and Design, which attracts many young artistic people and events to the area.
