  • My main goal was Photography, but wildlife was scarce. I took one short walk out to a marshy area (1/2 mile). It provided a nice view and there were patches of ice which made for interesting pictures....  more »
  • Lots of trails for nature lovers. The main office has displays of the wildlife found there. Two large ponds for fishing or kayaking with plenty of views.  more »

  • Great place for bird watching. Swamp area along Prime Hook Road is a great place to observe multiple different spices. You can do it even without leaving your car. Access is free. Several parking lots are available if you are interested in hiking or running.
  • The drive down was pleasant. The route was well marked. This is a wildlife refuge so you will not find very many amenities. There is a clean portolet in the parking lot. There is parking to accommodate numerous vehicles.
  • Very disappointed hardly any big birds, those that were there were far off. Scenery was very nice, but that was not what I went for. This is my second time there and it will be my last. Bombay Hook is about 15 mins from my house, and it has never disappointed me. If the eagles are scarce, there are always Great Blue Herons, Great Egrets or Snowy Egrets and other birds.
  • Going to Prime Hook is always a wonderful experience. It's free and there are plenty of trails to walk along the water. Depending on the time of year, you can see many birds like Osprey, Geese, Eagles, Herons, Ducks, Pelicans etc. It's very quiet and peaceful.
  • Great place for birding... Herons fishing are a common site... So are many different waterfowl and shorebirds... Smaller than Bombay hook which isn't too far...
