  • Such a great visit. I was in Newport for 3 days and came here twice to do the trails. Saw so many birds and beautiful plants. Really worth the visit and exploring the grounds! Parking is free and not too hard to find.
  • Beautiful Vista of the shore with a well kept hiking path around the refuge. The place has a interesting visitor center with spotless restroom facilities. Easy parking and a nice getaway from busy waterfront Newport.
  • Multiple trails to hike. Trails are under 2 miles each and well marked. Lots of great views and places to drop down to the water. Recommend combining hike with visit to Fieldstones for lunch and Newport Vineyards for a late afternoon glass of wine. Snowy owls show up in January, according to help at visitors center.
  • Such a beautiful place. I came here multiple times during my trip to Newport to walk around and explore. Loved seeing all the plants and wildlife. Also such beautiful views!!
  • I highly recommend this wildlife refuge for a beautiful walk by the ocean, and lots of different birds to see, bring your camera or binoculars. It is a nice walk, but no shade on the walk, so be prepared for full sun on a hot day.
