  • The ice cream is great as well as other things located in the small store. You can see the milking process of the cows between 1:30 and 4:30 and you can feed the baby calfs at 4 p.m. with bottles. Thi...  more »
  • We always go right to the creamery, and the farm smells do not bother me, but reminds me of wonderful times on my grandfathers farm. The creamery is spotless, and the service is fine, just expect line...  more »
  • After our 4th tasty visit to South Mountain Creamery I decided to break my long hiatus from posting TA reviews to make sure all my TA friends knew not to pass by this place. I first learned about this...  more »
  • The cows and calves were awesome! But we waited over an hour to feed the baby calves only to find out if you weren't standing in front of one you weren't able to feed them we were there way before anybody else and not one worker told us this so the people that came in five minutes before feeding time was able to feed them and we had to leave not having fed them. Out of the Western Maryland trip that we took today this is what I was most looking forward to totally bummed! There needs to be signs posted and more organization so this doesn't happen in the future
  • Nice little straight-to-consumer dairy farm. Their cheeses and yogurts aren't gourmet, but they're hard to beat on freshness. They have a calf petting area which is great for young kids. After adoring the little calves, a lot of kids head merrily over to the store to pick up jerky sticks. No irony there....
  • Fantastic fresh home churned ice cream that reminds me of my childhood. Another reviewer posted "not a good place if you have food allergies" -- which is pretty much true since it's all whole ingredients. No attempts to cater to the dairy free, gluten free, and folks with nut allergies. This is a 100% home grown family farm, not a restaurant. It's whole milk ice cream. Straight up. If that doesn't work for you then maybe a grocery store is a better fit.
  • They have delicious ice cream, but do not try to use them for catering any event! They are very unorganized, and you will have to call multiple times to make sure you talk to someone. I initially reached out in November for my wedding in July and called multiple times and emailed their staff leading up to the day, only to be told a month before my wedding that they will not have any staff available for my wedding day and that if I wanted to use them I would have to pick up and drop off their cart, and find my own staff. This is very disappointing because they had said initially that the staff would be available and my wedding is only 20 minutes away from them. Pretty disappointed with the entire experience as I've always loved South Mountain Creamery, but I will not try to use them again.
  • The ice cream is great, the staff is friendly, and the location is as authentic and farm-to-table as possible. Depending on the time one visits, and the nature of the wind, it may smell as authentic as possible too, but that should definitely not keep anyone away. Well worth the trip!
