Where to stay in Miami

Miami's South Beach boasts one of the largest collections of boutique hotels in the country. Though it can be quite expensive, staying in this area ensures proximity to the city's best shoreline, clubs, shopping, and restaurants, not to mention Art Deco buildings. Mid-Beach and downtown also make great places to stay, offering some superb apartment rentals and small hotels, though the neighborhoods are not as glamorous as South Beach. If you're traveling on a budget, avoid the high season during winter months. If money is no object, get a room with a view before it gets too hot along the famous stretch of Collins Avenue between 15th and 23rd Street.

  • We are not typically casino goers---this was a totally random stop after visiting the alligator attraction. Vast parking and in a very prominent easy to find spot, this casino was a pleasant surprise....  more »
  • This is not Vegas or even Biloxi. But if you want to have a little fun and quite possibly make some money this is the place to come. They give you $30 your first time visiting which is pretty cool if ...  more »

  • Nice location on the edge of the Everglades that's RV and boondocker friendly. Interesting photos and displays showing the history of the Miccosukee Indians. Since this is a casino the food prices are really great. On Friday the bingo room cafeteria had 3 pieces of fried fish with huge portions of rice and black beans for $3. It wasn't great but the price was hard to beat. On Saturday I bought a huge Cuban sandwich for $6 that was delicious. I plan to try the $9 lobster and steak dinner soon.
  • More smoke than I thought, it shouldn't be smoking right in the main lobby. I'm a non smoker and it was very daunting upon walking in. I almost wanted to cancel my reservation but couldn't find another hotel on short notice. My daughter has asthma and I prayed she wouldn't have an attack from the smoke everywhere. The icing on the cake that will ensure I never come back here was the rude and stereotypical racist servers in the buffet!! There were no forks or knives, just spoons. I asked a waiter could they bring water and flatware to the table, that never happened, several waiters continued to walk by us while clearly seeing the messy table, no water, no flatware, no napkins. TERRIBLE SERVICE, a little about me, I'm an IT professional and make a very good living. Those losers of waiters missed out on a hefty tip because they are ignorant and judge people by their appearance. I'm on vacation which means I'm just trying to have a good time with my family. Way to go on a horrible first impression with tourists, so long.
  • I've had pretty good luck with this place. Like any gambling situation, set aside a specific amount of money and leave when it's gone. I've even left with more money than I walked in with a few times. The food is inexpensive and good, not excellent, but good. Drinks are amazingly affordable. If you're a wuss about cigarette smoke, don't go because there's cigarette smoke.
  • Went in for diner at their fancy restaurant on the second floor, I've been there before at least 3 times. They have made some changes to the menu and prices to "increase quality". First thing that bother me a little is before on your birthday they would discount $25 from your check. No you have to go to the players club to get the $25 coupon. The server was very nice but forgot to bring bread untill almost the time the food was out, and the bred was not warm in fact you could say it was old bread, because of the texture and taste. Not the best experience I've had in this place I hope is a one off and not the direction is taking.
  • Really not too impressed. I have been here on two different times within a month. The exterior of the place is becoming dated. As far as the slots gaming. It has a lot to be desired. With rampant game glitches, minimal payouts and machines that are down. I doesn't have a real flair or appeal. I believe it is more of a cash vacuum. I may give it another try in another month but on the other hand, i may try another casino in the area.
