Jungle Island, Miami
(3.1/5 based on 1,500+ reviews on the web)
Interact with tropical birds, see a tiger show, or visit the Everglades Habitat to further explore Florida's ecosystems at Jungle Island. Such famous guests as Winston Churchill and President Jimmy Carter have visited this zoo, which originally opened in 1936 as Parrot Jungle. In addition to animal shows and exhibitions, the park also provides visitors with opportunities for live animal encounters at its petting zoo. A few of the zoo's most popular attractions are its Parrot Bowl, which hosts the Winged Wonders bird show, and a 408 kg (400 lb) liger (combination lion and tiger). • We took a walk by when we had bought a 3 day tour card where we had many different options for free. When jungle island was one of the so we wanted to exploit it. I had no particular expectations but have to honestly say I was completely shocked! Only after 5 minutes in there I snapped together in tears to see these wonderful creatures cage inside in SO SMALL CAGES! The one tiger that was and the Lions just went back and forth of the restlessness in these insane small areas they were placed in the. Monkeys and birds located in small cages where there was very limited with the range of motion. It was right to delete is JUST AWFUL! We went fast from there with a broken heart, and tears in the corner of my eye. This was not a good experience. No, animals on display in so small cages for the show is certainly NOT OKAY!

  • A small zoo where you can even contact with some animals such as parrots, kangaroos, goats, is cute in two/three hours visiting quietly but in my opinion too expensive ($ 40) for what it offers. Okay for kids.

  • I have lived in Miami for 25 years and stayed away from visiting attractions that involve animals in captivity as much as possible. Last weekend we visited Jungle Island for the first time. I have mix...  more »

  • Went here as a guest on a work picnic function... really a nice place for children and families.... probably great for Tourists too, since I do find that tourists expect to pay a little bit more for things l, on Vacation... Overall a really nice place. All the staff were friendly, really nice older gentleman walking around made it apparent he loved what he does, working there. The layout of the animals around you, makes it unique.... I don't want to spoil anything... it's worth a visit.
  • I went on a Thursday back in September, and i must say i had such an awesome experience. From the moment i walked in i was greeted with kindness. The shows were great and being able to pet the animals were awesome. Thank you all for the great experience.
  • Back in a day we used to go to the old location smaller and super adorable. I'm getting used to this one. It doesn't have a feel of the big zoo that's I why I love it! The birds are really gorgeous. A fun place to spend a day with family!
  • Its nice overall with amazing animals and shows for the kids to learn about the different kinds of animals. But the admission of price is very expensive. I paid $48.00 for one ticket. And the vending machines are purely ridiculous highly priced. A Powerade or soda cost $4.00 freaking dollars.😡😡 Food prices suck big time! By the way parking is $10.00.
  • Very strange place. Extremely expensive tickets and, as result, just few people in a park. Dirty, scary and not friendly at all. Many cages and enclosures without birds or animals. Everything for extra price. Dirty restrooms. All cafe and restaurants was closed during working hours. And do not forget to bring your water or you pay 4 dollars per can inside this captivity!
