Where to stay in Miami

Miami's South Beach boasts one of the largest collections of boutique hotels in the country. Though it can be quite expensive, staying in this area ensures proximity to the city's best shoreline, clubs, shopping, and restaurants, not to mention Art Deco buildings. Mid-Beach and downtown also make great places to stay, offering some superb apartment rentals and small hotels, though the neighborhoods are not as glamorous as South Beach. If you're traveling on a budget, avoid the high season during winter months. If money is no object, get a room with a view before it gets too hot along the famous stretch of Collins Avenue between 15th and 23rd Street.

  • Very helpful staff, both on the phone and at main desk. Parking IS difficult in area for a large truck with handicap chair hoist on rear. Despite parking being validated by museum we got charged full amount. The Hurricane Andrew exhibit is very good and a great reminder for citizens in hurricane-prone areas to pay close attention! I loved the People Of Miami photographic exhibit too, and the artifacts from native peoples of The Americas. The history of Florida settlement was a bit hard to follow, it seems to jump from ancient native settlements to the Spanish Armada arrival to the Henry Flagler Era, to Cuban Migration...the timeline just seemed haphazard to us. All said and done it is a beautiful facility and we had a nice time.
  • Great and fun place for the entire family. Full of history. Allow 2 hours if you want to enjoy it with time and read and watch everything. A lot of history and very nice staff. Parking is $5 with validation on the museum. Accessible for wheel chairs.
  • A very nice museum with rotating featured artists. I loved the second building, very interactive. A great job of presenting the development of South Florida.
  • So much fun loved the domino table I won a game against my friend.
  • Miamis history museum. It needs more, but it's a great way for people to learn about Miami as a city. I wish it had a bit more on the political and racial history of Miami though.
