  • Good place for a day hike! Trails are clean and well marked for most of the hike. Only downside is that the trails are not very long as you can see by the map. If you are there for walking or running, trails are relatively unpopulated, but the closer you get to the swimming area, the more people are hosting family reunions. Altogether, very nice place for a relaxing summer day.
  • Park is about 20 miles West of Lake Whitney, and NW of Waco, TX. Park is small with a very laid back atmosphere. 15 Electric/Water sites, 17 Shelters 6 of them right off the lake, 16 Primitive Camp sites. Fishing with "no wake" rules. Hiking trails are very well marked (look for color coded paint on trail trees.) You can hike all the trails and still be back for lunch. Biking trails are easy, also a paved road goes all the way around the lake for those who want to stay on pavement.
  • Very peaceful park, it's small but wasn't crowded at all. We stayed in the only cabin which is #9 on the park map. It has beds and a beautiful table inside. The outdoor area is spacious and private with a picnic table and 2 bbq areas. The cabin is near the RV area so we never had to wait for a shower or the restrooms. The park rangers are nice and don't come around bothering you. We fished, hiked and biked. The trails are well marked and easy to navigate. There's a grocery store 10 minutes away. This park is a beautiful piece of Texas Heaven!!
  • Nice spot to visit. We rode bikes around the park. Several hills. Many hiking trails and free fishing in Texas State Parks without requiring a license. If you visit regularly, get the yearly pass to save entrance fees and get 4 nights camping 1/2 price. They have nice cabins here but we stayed in our RV.
  • Very nice to walk around and get some exercise. Or do some Fishing! You don't need a TX fishing License to fish here. It's Free. : )
