The nature preserve includes 1.5 miles of shoreline with rare dune plants, a riverine marsh, mature oak bluff and crescent-shaped open waterways.

Containing the greatest diversity of wetland communities within the marsh basin, it serves as an important breeding and nursery area for fish and waterfowl and provides a resting place for neo-tropical birds and butterflies as they migrate each year.

The adjacent marina has 400 drive-up wet slips and the docks can accommodate boats up to 50 feet in length.

  • The Park service took us on a guided kayak tour (we supplied the horsepower) through the lagoons and right into Lake Erie. Beautiful scenery and lots of water fowl. The hiking trails go pretty deep in...  more »
  • My husband and I have walked the trails and I have biked on the gravel trail. Love the sound of the lake and wind. Not crowded. There is Kayaking (renttal) on the marsh waterway to the lake. 
  • We enjoy walking here. When hot we can walk in wooded area to stay in shade There is beach access which of course is great Only bathroom facility is portapotty
