Menemsha Public Beach, Menemsha
(4.6/5 based on 100+ reviews on the web)
Set within a charming fishing village, Menemsha Public Beach offers some of the best things on the island: seafood, gentle surf, and sunsets. The pebbly beach can be a little hard on tender feet, but the uncrowded atmosphere and serene vistas at this beach make it a perennial favorite. Try the clams at the New England clam shack, or head to one of the other nearby restaurants for other seafood dishes, including lobster and oysters. The vistas from this north-facing spot include the Elizabeth Islands and Cuttyhunk, and word has it this is the best sunset in town. Limited parking ensures plenty of beach space for visitors. • A bit chilly and windy but a beautiful clear day to view the Atlantic Ocean. The beach is quite clean and spacious enough. Plenty of parking and a public restroom are near by. Not sure how many shops ...  more »
