  • Wow! What a beautiful hike into the redwoods! We did the forest trail first and it's quite a reasonable distance (more than an hour). Then we backtracked and went down the beach trail (very short walk...  more »
  • we liked the easy access from the parking area. It was not crowded and just a really pleasant walk. We had gone there to look for driftwood and there was none to be found.  more »
  • Wonderful, short walk to a beautiful coastal spot above a tranquil beach. Great spot to check out the scenery without the crowds.  more »

  • Great state Park with no day use fees. Wonderful trail to a pygmy forest and a beach. Nice views of the ocean.
  • The hike around the coastal meadow and then up to the Pygmy redwoods is one of the best we've ever taken. Easy to follow. Gentle climbs. The Pygmy trees are a little disappointing ( just scrub trees) but getting there and back is a delight. Head out of the parking lot and turn left to go around the half mile coast meadow or right to hike up the trail under the highway and through the trees. But don't skip the meadow as it has views of one of the most charming beach coves I've seen. No bathrooms. The sign says no dogs, but we met several on the trail.
  • The views of the ocean are breath taking. The hike to the Pygmy forest is work the effort and should not be missed if visiting the area.
  • Great place to take the kids. Our local elementary school has field trips to this beach. It is also an easy walk to the beach.
  • Amazing reserve, great hike on the ecological staircase.
